What is your favorite food indulgence?
If you didn't have to worry about calories, dietary restrictions, fat, cost, etc., what is the one food you could eat a ton of?

I LOVE ice cream, especially Ben & Jerry's. If I needed a good pig out, that's what I would go for.

What do you crave?

16. I'm a sashimi girl myself, with maybe a spicy tuna roll
Eat it like crazy when I'm on the road -- not too filling for a 9pm dinner, and keeps the expense account auditors happy - you can have sashimi, a tuna roll, and a glass of wine for <$40.

No ginger, but plenty of wasabi

21. Not big on sweets
But I could eat a good rare to medium rare filet mignon or steak everyday(YUMM!). My mouth just waters anytime I think of filet.

Also plump fresh strawberries (I have been known to plow through a flat of strawberries in just 2 days if they're good). When I make strawberry shortcake, it's usually this miniscule hunk of cake, about a pound of sliced up fresh SB (no sugar or anything added), and about 2 tablespoons of cool whip on top. Mmmmm, I loves me some strawberries. My mom laughs at me when she sees me do this, as she's real big on the cake and whipped cream part of it (not so much anymore now that she's diabetic).

28. You might be better off asking what foods I DON'T indulge in!
Here are a few favorites:

Sushi
Pretty much ANY Asian type noodle concoction
Nuts-particularly pistachios and walnuts
Hummus
Olives-any flavor/type
mashed potatoes and gravy (this is a particularly dangerous indulgence for me as I am unable to eat less than a metric ton of them)

and about the only "sweet" I can't say no to is Key Lime Pie.

37. Well, since I've started on my lifestyle/eating habits change last July, I crave the
strangest things sometimes. Of course I always crave (and probably always will crave) cookies and cake. I really miss those, and have to allow myself some every once in awhile. And chocolate, although I do have a little almost every day (very dark, full of antioxidants).

But the surprising craving I seem to be having is toast. Warm, buttered toast. Lately I've had that craving so strongly that I think I'm going to start crying if I don't have some buttered toast. Luckily I've found a local bakery that makes a low-carb, whole grain bread that I really enjoy, so I let myself have toast every once in awhile.

By far the indulgence I've enjoyed the most since starting all this has been berries. I never used to allow myself berries very often because they're so expensive. When I would buy them, I felt like I needed to do something special with them because they were such a rare treat, which would inevitably result in the berries spoiling before I could use them. Now, since they are considered a superfood, I buy them like crazy. They're cheaper than vitamins and much tastier, right? I found that Costco has incredible blueberries and Trader Joe's has the best red raspberries. I put a half-cup or more on my yogurt every morning. YUM!

48. Ooooh boy. I have a list.
Steak--either filet or good thick ribeye, rubbed with a bit of salt and pepper, cooked medium.

Frito's "Scoops" and warm Salso con Queso dip. I can eat a whole bag if I'm not careful.

Homemade mashed potatoes, made MY way. That means potatoes cooked in garlicky chicken broth, hand-mashed with a whole stick of real salted butter and some pepper, then smoothed with the hand mixer with some buttermilk or half-and-half added to make them creamy. Best with homemade chicken gravy.

Butter Pecan ice cream--I love the brands that are PACKED with big pecan pieces, like Hershey's.

Pepperoni, sliced colby cheese, and Ritz crackers.

My special omelette, made with crumbled bacon, Jimmy Dean reduced-fat bulk sausage (it's meatier!), sauteed fresh mushrooms and sweet onions, and shredded colby jack cheese, topped with a dollop of sour cream with salt and pepper. TRULY a heart-attack on a plate, but absolutely to die for. I eat this maybe once a *year*, and keep a close eye out for chest pain afterward.

Homemade meatloaf and/or meatballs.

66. Trans Fats
Edited on Thu Jan-25-07 07:46 PM by Leo 9
Just kidding.

Who is BanTransFats.com?

We are the organization that sued Kraft in 2003 to eliminate trans fat in Oreos.

Result: Kraft eliminated trans fat from Oreos and reduced or eliminated it in about 650 other products. Click here and here for information.

The Oreo lawsuit had a huge "domino" effect. The publicity that the lawsuit received created public awareness about the trans fat issue and triggered an avalanche of events including the FDA labeling rule.

We are the organization that sued McDonald's in 2003 for misleading its customers into believing that it had switched to a lower trans fat cooking oil.

Result: As a result of the litigation, McDonald's agreed to inform its customers that it had not changed to the lower trans fat cooking oil by placing prominent notices in all of its restaurants nationwide and in the media. It also agreed to pay $7 million to the American Heart Association for a trans fat program. Click here for information.

73. So do you think the lawsuits
and organization are a good or bad thing? I'm a little confused by your post.

70. STOP!!! You folks are killing me here....
everything you all have mentioned sounds great anytime. I think taste buds are a gift of god and should be exploited as much as possible. For me it's a toss up of BBQ and peach cobbler or apple dumplings.

78. Chocoholic here
Anything chocolate, all the time.

Ice cream is my favorite, and while I crave B&J's, I've found a nice new one for now. Edy's Slow Churned is great, and it doesn't even come close to tasting like "diet ice cream." On the West Coast, it's under the name Dreyer's--same company. Right now my favorite is Double Fudge Brownie.

I make a killer vegetarian stuffed pepper with rice, tomatoes, onions, cheese and almonds. Smother it in tomato sauce, and I could eat one every day.

If I could get restaurant quality every day, I'd be eating Pad Thai or Cashew Chicken--unfortunately, my friends in NE don't like Thai food as much as I do, and I end up going alone to find new Thai restaurants.
