I downloaded a couple of songs on iTunes from GBV and really like them. Any suggestions as to songs or albums to check out?

I need some new music!

1. Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes

My 2 favorite records by them; Bee Thousand has "I Am A Scientist" and Alien Lanes has "King And Caroline/Motor Away" which is my favorite moment by the band

It's impossible to find, but their live record "Crying Your Kinife Away" is unbeliveable; the band is at their boozy best, and the crowd screaming "GBV! GBV!" always cracks me up..

I saw GBV a number of times in the early 90's when I went back to live in Ohio; between them, The Ass Ponies, and Afghan Wigs SW Ohio was an Indie rock Mecca...

Under the Bushes... is also very good.

and! on edit: that compilation that came out a couple of years ago, "Human Amusement At Hourly Rates" is great, for a best-of type thing. (If you're like me, you prefer albums over best-ofs, but the GBV catalogue is just so huge, with so many side trips and blind alleys and, frankly, stink bomb booby traps, that it's not a bad idea to check this one out.)
