I read that book alone in a dark house one night when I was about 17. Running to the bathroom and back, I thought I was going to have a coronary, my adrenaline was pumping so hard.

But I was actually scared of clowns before It. I had a clown porcelean doll when I was a kid, that was given to me by a relative so I couldn't get rid of it. Now, I find porcelean dolls scary as is, and then it was a CLOWN...god. Were my parents trying to scar me for LIFE??

I know exactly where mine stems from -- Two clown pictures hanging in my aunt's basement when I was a little kid. I had to sleep down there when we visited, I can still see those pictures in my mind's eye.
