2. Steve Perry, "Street Talk." Yes, the one with, "Oh, Sherry."
I honestly have NO idea how it ended up in my collection, but I suspect a former roommate (the one with many of my Hoodo Guru discs).

14. Pat Boone's in a Metal Mood
It has proven to be an embarrasment to Pat Boone but I treasure it nonetheless. The songs are wonderful and the cd is a great fun to play for those who hear it first time. Song selections include: Smoke on the Water; No More Mr. Nice Guy; Enter Sandman; Holy Diver; Paradise City; Crazy Train; You've Got Another Thing Comin'; It's a Long Way to The Top, (If You want to Rock and Roll); Love Hurts; The Wind Cries Mary; and Stairway To Heaven. Hearing these songs rewritten in Pat Boone's style, sung by himself and backed up by a very good orchestra is just pure fun!

She was one of my first big celeb crushes. I think Electric Youth has stood up as a good dance album, but the others I keep for nostalgia.

I remain a big Cyndi fan to this day, and think Tiffany had a nice comeback with The Color of Silence.

45. Michael Bolton and Kenny G -- One CD of each -- bought around the same
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 02:38 PM by mcscajun
time. I spent a summer working in Southeast Florida and was a captive audience for 97.3 FM "South Florida's COAST", and I've always been a sucker for a good musical 'hook'. These guys had earworms: Michael had "Love is a Wonderful Thing" and I like soprano saxophone -- so sue me. :)

Oh yeah, and Rick Astley's "Whenever You Need Somebody" album: "Never Gonna Give You Up", "Together Forever" and "It Would Take a Strong, Strong Man" got me hooked, too.

They are true aberrations in my eclectic music collection that is mostly comprised of classic rock (including Led Zeppelin, Clapton, The Moody Blues, and The Doors) jam bands a la the Grateful Dead, jazz, blues, bluegrass/New grass, Cajun/Zydeco, Celtic, Folk, and Broadway/Hollywood soundtracks.

To my credit, that was also the year and the reason I bought George Harrison's "Cloud Nine". "Got My Mind Set On You" was my favorite from that album.

I've got everything ranging from Jimmy Buffet to Gregorian Chant to Coolio to Great White. If I get tired of listening to it, I get rid of it. If I enjoy listening to it, no damn music snob will convince me otherwise. A music snob is simply a person who misunderstands the purpose of music in the first place.
