I'm hopeless, DU. I can't figure out how to block OR how to find out who
is blocking me!

Please help. Even tho I am not really interested in blocking anyone, I feel stupid notknowing what everyone else seems to know. I tried to read all those informational threads the admin posted but I got bored and couldn't follow them.

I AM curious as to who is blocking me. I know the admin says we have to look at our wicked past behavior to learn why we are being punished with a block from someone. Perhaps if I find out the blocker's user name I will recall my transgression(s)! I do remember that I got put on ignore because of my opinion on natural childbirth. That got kinda personal, but I haven't seen that DUer for quite some time now.

Thanks for any help you can offer, everyone!

1. You would block/ignore somebody
by going to one of their posts and clicking on the "ignore user" icon, which is a silhouette with an X over it. This brings up a page where you can choose either regular ignore, nuclear ignore, or barely ignored at all. :)

To know who has you blocked, well, you can't. Not unless you try to post in one of their threads and they have decided not to permit it, in which case you will get a message saying you cannot respond to the thread, or if you attempt to PM them and get a message saying the user does not wish to receive private messages. Otherwise you will be blissfully unaware! And really, do you care?

2. Not really. I just hate not being in on the joke.
I did figure out the ignore icon (duh)but didn't realize that you had to hit that to get to the block function (duh again). But since I never put anyone on ignore, how would I know?

Thanks for the info. I think the block thing is counter intuitive to liberal progressives since I like to think we are children of the Enlightenment. But frankly I am surprised so much of DU is devoted to that subject. Surely there is so much to cover in our fight for the political heart and soul of America, we should not waste our time and energy getting into such schoolyard scuffles.

3. I tend to agree. It cracks me up when somebody announces
they have discovered they are on ignore can't understand it, because the person who's nuked them is not one of the ten they have on ignore themselves. People annoy one another. So what? :hi:

4. Yup.
Sometimes I think things are taken way too seriously and now its come to this. I only come here for fun , I want to have fun while I still can. Hopefully I am not blocked/ignored/annoying anyone because I don't mean any harm. Lately I think its much more fun to lurk and f everything you know.

5. I'm finding myself doing more lurking and less posting lately.
Why do you say you want to have fun "while (you) still can"?

7. I say that because ...

I say that because either I will go away quietly or go on a rampage and post everything that I hold under my tongue and get tombstoned. But for now I would rather sit in front of my PC and eat oranges on this gorgeoous Tuesday morning (It is Tuesday right? Working 3rd shift throws me off)

Edited --> And these days you never know what word of the day will set someone off and start a flame war. I see it happen.

6. Perhaps we should start our own "DUers Who Don't Block" group.
We could spread the Enlightenment philosophy around!

I'm not really kidding. If nothing else, it would be fun finding just the quotes that encapsulate our way of thinking and post them liberally!

8. That's just going to piss people off.
It doesn't take much, and I'm not sure what we'd accomplish.

9. Wow, that bad, huh?
I guess you think that people will get mad because we'll appear to be "better" than others.

OK. Guess we'll go underground...
