Report: Rage Against The Machine To Reunite
YAY! Too bad the RAM reunion won't be a permanent thing.

http://www.nbc5.com/entertainment/10813812/detail.html

Seven years after they split up, political rock band Rage Against The Machine is reportedly set to reunite for an appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The Los Angeles Times reports the band has agreed to headline the eighth edition of the festival, which will run from April 27-29, 2006 in Indio, Calif. Other acts expected to appear during the three-day festival include The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bjork, a reunited Crowded House, Arcade Fire, Willie Nelson, Arctic Monkeys, Sonic Youth, Interpol, the Roots, the Decemberists, and the Kings of Leon.

4. Cool!
That looks like a great concert. Is this a '90s alternative band nostalgia concert? Does that make me old?

14. I'm hearing more 90's alternative on the radio lately.
I think its about to become retro, which means it will come back in force. Thanks goodness.

15. Me too
Pop music now is so vapid, I think people are looking for some good angsty rock music. But, if 90's rock becomes retro, it means my generation is officially old. Can you imagine "Rage Against the Machine" on an oldies station? :)

8. He did another single with DJ Shadow...
He WAS working on an album with a lot of really good producers, but I have no idea what ever became of that.

the dude's released two singles in seven years. The solo album's starting to look like Chinese Democracy. Which is a shame, because De La Rocha had some pretty kickass lyrics, especially from an activist standpoint, and that sort of lyrical content is almost wholly absent from mainstream music.

12. The thing is, unlike Chinese Democracy, no one's claiming that it's still coming out.
I read an interview with Shadow where he said the tracks they did together will probably never see the light of day. I"m curious to know just what happened with all of that though.

18. An excellent point, certainly.
That is definitely a huge difference between the two albums.

If rumor is to be believed, Axl Rose's record is supposed to drop on March 6:

Of course, I'm not holding my breath. :eyes:

17. Sure
every band should stay obscure and out of the system so that only the cool super-trendy people in their metropolitan area ever find out who they are. Why reach a mass audience with a message when you can stay pure?

21. you are missing the point
they are a parody of themselves.

They rail against corporate fascism while helping corporate fascists to make money off of them. Sorry about the truth. I had nothing to do with its creation.

25. Yeah, just like that lightweight Noam Chomsky.
Edited on Tue Jan-23-07 09:00 PM by LostInAnomie
Getting his books published and selling them at Borders. What a fascist sellout! :eyes:

We live in a capitalist system and if you want to have your message heard you have to go through the channels that can actually distribute that message. How many people would have been reached by Chomsky if he only put out Xeroxed pamphlets, or Rage if they only played burned out hovels to anarchist groups? More that likely we would have never heard of them.

26. Isn't why they disbanded?
Rage is BETTER music than is played now, corporate bullshit & all.

Metallica - Corporate bullshit - is a prime example, not to mention the bands that all sound the same.

Let's bring back Pantera, Prong, Slayer, the Obsessed.

I loved what all the members of Audioslave did, but it got real old, real quick. Bring back Soundgarden and RATM.
