Damn! Bears are quick.

This guy was up where the arrow is from where the circle is in about 2 seconds. Which was 2 seconds faster than I could take off my glove, grab my camera and shoot.

So, when life gives you ice falls... shoot ice falls.

that is the second time that bunch of bears has escaped me right there. the first time I did not have a camera with me. I will be loathe to let it happen again.

1. Sometimes they run away
sometimes they don't.

You need a partner, one you can outrun.

Nice shots, though.

3. man, I knew this was NC right when I looked at the photo
where in NC were you when you took this? Where did you take the one of the icicles?

Nic pics. I've only seen a bear like that once, and I was in my car. I walked into the woods once where one had just been...you could smell, it and my dog wouldn't budge, I had to pull his leash really hard to get him to move. That was at the NC arboretum.

11. I thought it was NH!
That scenery is very familiar to me (especially the granite). By the way, I love the bear and I love your woods.

12. I thought it looked like Arkansas. We have areas (and bears)
that look very much like that.

6. I just finished Silence of the North by Olive Fredrickson.
Bears are smart and crazy. Good luck. If they turn on you, you're dead.

10. You are braver than me. I'd be more worried I'd get close-ups than
that I'd only get far off pictures of them.
