D'you like the winter and the cold?
I love it. Okay, I don't love being cold, but I love the way the world looks under snow. It's all very poetic, united as one under a blanket of white, yadda yadda yadda. Snow makes me ache inside, both with cold and with this kind of primitive yearning to be a wolf running through it, under a great full moon that bathes the whole world in moonshine. Snow burns, literally, but also figuratively, at least for me.

1. Last year
Edited on Sun Jan-14-07 12:34 PM by auntAgonist
I was SO cold, I would be in tears most days. My Iron levels and everything else had taken a dive and I couldn't get warm no matter what I did. I ended up in the hospital. I cannot imagine how anyone survives living on the streets in winter

I love the snow and the really frigid temperatures however, and the beauty of everything covered in white. There's nothing like walking in the snow on a moonlit night, that squeaky noise as you trudge across the snow .. I do love it.

especially now that I'm 'back to normal' whatever that is :)

4. Not really
I was hoping that it would snow more because we left a fair amount of leaves in our yard and hoped that they would be snow covered and break down as naturual fertilizer for our lawn in the spring thaw.
I am glad that it was a bit milder here though because we moved into a drafty bigger older home this summer, not anticipating how bad heating it would be in the winter. We are having someone come next week to help us identify areas to add insulation and such. I don't think that the warmer temperatures will be disastorous for the ecosystem here in Wisconsin because it has stayed cold enough to keep vegetation dormanant and such unlike the East Coast.
The thing that I like best about winter is that I usually get a big mood boost in the spring after the cold short days are over.

5. No, I don't like winter and I don't like cold. But, it's not just the cold
that gets me down, it's the gloominess and all. The sun doesn't shine for days on end, nothing green outside to look at and taking the dog for a walk requires bundling up like the Michelin man. On the whole, I would rather sweat than shiver.

6. I like snow and cold weather, but not too much of either.
You know, like a normal winter where you live.;)

I like crisp cold air, the kind that gives you the same rush as mint tea when you inhale it. I don't like it when it's so cold that it hurts to inhale. I love watching snow fall. I love making snow angels and snow balls. I love walking in a foot of new fallen snow and making the first path. When I was a kid I loved the particular type of snow with an icy crust over powdery dry snow. That kind was useless for snowballs and the like but lots of fun for kids stomping around in big boots. I don't like shoveling and detest the way snowblowers ruin the peaceful calm that descends after a snow storm.

I also don't like it when it dips below freezing out here because our houses aren't built for it.

10. I never used to...
but I've become very sensitive to heat, and have to sprint from the car to the house during the summer.

It's gotten to the point where I revel in the cold. A move from Texas to Alberta should remedy that permanently, however. :D

11. No to both
I live with 110°+ temps in summer so I don't have to freeze during winter.

It's not working this weekend though. It's cold and ice covered here. :(

15. No.
:(

Winter isn't my season. I'm cold and wet and miserable...I hate waking up when it's still dark outside, I hate driving through the sleet and getting soaked walking to class through the snow, I hate the fact that I shiver for months at a time no matter how many layers of clothing I wear.

I miss going out in t-shirts and tank tops and being to go outside and read or surt the internet on the quad. I miss baseball. I miss driving with the window rolled down.

As you can tell, I'm a warm weather person who lives for the day that the temperature stabilizes to 60+. :)

I can deal with the cold but I HATE snow.

But so far in CT, we've had a great winter.

No snow...and not too bad of temps.

It has been unseasonably warm in PA. I hate to sweat! I love the cold, and the smell of snow in the air. We might get some this week at last.

21. I don't mind the cold if there's snow
Everything is just pretty. Maybe because I have SAD I like snow because everything is brighter once the sun comes out. There's usually not huge amounts of snow outside of DC anyway but considering the cherry blossoms are out I'm not getting my hopes up for this year. Still another month though, maybe I'll get lucky.

22. Define cold
;-)

There's cold, and then there's cold. I'm not crazy about it when it gets below -15.

I like having four seasons, and love the way snow looks. I like the winter...not the winter where I live, though. It's far, far too long.

23. I sleep better when it's cold
I have a featherbed and a down comforter. I like sleeping in a cold room. I have a forced air natural gas furnace and when I go to bed I drop the thermostat down to fifty. Most nights the furnace doesn't even kick on (which can tend to wake me up) though the other morning when it got subzero it did, meaning the house had reached fifty.

The best thing about this part of the country is that we get lots of sunny days even when it's freezing out. Nice to sleep in on a Saturday or Sunday and have the light streaming into the bedroom warming things up.

We have four seasons here, but I need my sunglasses pretty much year-round. Needed them for driving this afternoon actually.
