Has anyone ever read the book "The Front Runner" by Patricia Nell Warren?
When I was younger this book really touched me in so many ways. The fact that it was written by a woman, who so eloquently touched on the story of male-male love, affected me deeply.

3. tell you the truth
I was so young that I don't trust my opinion of it; it may be too influenced by youthful emotionalism. It surprises me, however, how much of it stayed with me: the first time they have sex, the ending, the phrase "the hardcore ten-percent"- of which I'm a proud member
;-)

4. If you wouldn't mind... would you give a brief plot summary

I can't remember it. I do remember it being something a lot of my friends had read--and it was in their bookcases.

5. very encapsullated
Older closeted track coach falls for out long-distance runner, who is much younger. Runner gets shot by a winger as he's about to cross the finish line at the Olympics. Coach uses runner's frozen sperm to have a child.

One of the first pieces I ever read with homosexuality as a theme. I LOVED it at the time...Excellent synopsis!

9. I picked up a copy awhile back at a used book store...
but never read it. I also have it stored somewhere..probably at my parents house in Maine where I have shitloads of books in their basement. There is a gay bar in Manchester, NH named after this book.
