Is it possible for a cold to settle into your lower back?
I just realized I'm getting a cold, and at the same time my lower back has begun aching something fierce. Is it possible for a cold to specifically affect a person's anatomy like that? It's never happened to me like that before!

Dammit, I hate colds.

1. Might not be a cold. Might be the flu instead.
I've been sick for damn near a month now. I was talking to a friend of mine in the medical field, and she has had it too. Says it is a neural flu; that probably explains why my body has felt as if someone beat me up, in addition to coughing, sneezing, etc.

2. I think I have the same cold
The rest of my body feels a bit stiff, and when I eat even a little bit I feel WAY full.

I figure I would feel way worse if it was the flu, though.

4. Could be 'flu
Either 'flu itself or the body's reaction to it can cause your nerves to be much more sensitive leading to aches and pains. Often aching is just simply the flow of blood but your nerve-endings are much more sensitive feeling it as pain.

I haven't had flu for many years now. It's a cold- I've always gotten them easily.

6. yes absolutely it is possible
as others say, could be the flu, so rest up, but it can certainly be a cold also

go to bed for 24 hours drinking nothing but bourbon, honey, and chicken soup, if you are not well by the end of it, could be the flu instead of a cold

but a cold can settle in your back or even your shoulders dammit!

get well soon

7. I can do everything but the bourbon
...I'm a recovered alky.

However, I DO know this restaurant that makes one hell of a bourbon-glazed salmon. Will that work?

8. Just reading that makes me hurt...
I have fibromyalgia and when I get sick I get pains that have to come straight from hell. I would be jumping every 5 to 15 minutes. It feels like a bunch of electric shocks going through my body and my muscles feel all tight.

Man, I hope you feel better soon.

9. My sister has fibromyalgia
Although I don't have the experience of the pain, I've seen it through her, so I know what you're saying.

I'm paying for a session for her with a sports injury therapist on Friday- this lady has it too, but is in remission, and she claims to be able to do wonders for people with fibromyalgia. I hope she's right.

10. are you drinking and peeing okay?
Lower back pain always makes me think someone should drink a half gallon of cranberry juice just to make sure the urinary tract is alright.

11. I had a cold affect one kidney last year - so it's possible.
2 days of sniffling and sneezing and then 3 weeks of kidney problems. Took a bunch of tests to figure out it was viral and just ended up in a weak place in my body.
