Need book suggestions, please

I got a $50 gift card for Borders Books (:bounce:) and thought I'd ask y'all for some suggestions for books. My primary interest right now is political/current affairs books.

I got both of Barack Obama's books for Christmas, plus I have a number of political books, such as "Shrub", "Worse than Watergate", Joe Wilson's book, Mark Crispin Miller's first book about Bush ("The Bush Dislexicon"), etc. I know that there are a lot of new books out there. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I like Eric Alterman's What Liberal Media for a good treatise in how unliberal the media really is and a well documented version at that. (IMO)

2. One of my favorite books is "Whoredom in Kimmage"

It's about a woman who travels solo through Ireland and her various experiences. I read it twice, which is really rare for me.

Sounds like an interesting book. I don't know if you have any interest at all in climbing expedition books, but my favorite is "Annapurna", about an all-female mountain climbing group. Quite interesting, as most climbing books are written by men. The women's perspective is a bit different.

"Lost History" by Robert Parry really sets the stage for much of what we see from the repukes now

I also highly recommend "The Corporation: The Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power" by Joel Bakan.

37. "The New Rulers of the World"

Written right before we went into Iraq. Starts with background and a history of U.S./CIA intervention in Indonesia. Viet Nam was the distraction Indonesia was the real prize, my thoughts, not the authors. The book goes into the time right before Iraq and discusses how the super powers destroy third world nations through loans. Also goes into media complicity. Is it any wonder that Rupert Murdoch was a cheerleader for Suaharto. Puts the Bali bombings into perspective, it wasn't Al Queda, it was factions within Indonesia that were pissed at Suaharto's thirty year authoritarian rule, again my thoughts not the authors. This is a great book. Everybody should read it.
