Rojo the Rescue Husky's first time dogsledding! (pics)
So I woke up this morning early, but when I saw the thermometer read eight below zero (really) I lobbied for a 10 a.m. mushing start. I loaded up Rojo, the copper husky I rescued over the summer from a life of living in a shelter -- and more importantly, a life of living in Oklahoma instead of in the Colorado high country with a bunch of sled dogs. I also brought his "sister" Krish, a veteran. And off we went!

Rojo took to pulling like he'd been doing it his entire life. I was a very, very proud daddy. :)

We pack down a trail through several properties up on a nearby mesa. One of the adjacent owners, a great 76 year-old guy named Frank, came out. And of course we put him on the sled. He was thrilled!

...At least until they disappeared behind one tree, and reappeared without Frank! My buddy Tom, pictured below, ran up and grabbed the sled and stopped it. I helped by taking a picture:

Frank was OK, even went for another spin. He just didn't duck when the dogs brought him around a corner close to a tree.
Anyhow, if there was ever any doubt, Rojo is a Sled Dog. This is Rojo in front, Krish next to him. :loveya:

6. My dear Robb!
Wow, what great pictures!

And Rojo looks so very happy in his lovely harness, next to his sister!

What a lucky boy, to live out his true destiny!

Great pics!

The snow looks like it's supposed to......like a satin blanket loosely thrown over the landscape.......

Thanks for posting........ :hi:

7. Robb, I can't believe you're so cruel
as to make those poor dogs pull that sled. :sarcasm:

RIP Susan Butcher.

11. Was wondering recently how the new dogs were getting along with the team.
Great news! Thanks for the pics and update. Us evilDUers fret about the strangest things regarding people we haven't even had the pleasure to meet. So glad Rojo and his sister are part of your Clan of the Mountain Dog. A huskey HAS to pull to know why he was made the way he was.

Happy dogs. Great sight.

Robb is a dingbat, but one helluva DogDad!
