No jacket for me. I'm almost considering wearing shorts!

I've lived in NYC for 10 years and have never once had a January day anywhere close to this. This is definitely more than an oddity. It's completely insane!

1. It's miserably hot here in Philly - 72 in January
Edited on Sat Jan-06-07 02:26 PM by Patiod
all the Mummers, bundled up for 30 degree weather, are strutting and sweating up Market Street after their New Year's Parade was cancelled because of rain.

I am so not liking this whole global warming thing (which my ultra-Republican friend just explained to me "is the real deal, unfortunately". Three years ago, she explained that it was nonsense, so I guess there's some hope...

2. Across the river, in Jersey
people are wearing shorts and sleeveless shirts. It's like a day in late May.

It's impossible for me to enjoy this, with the feeling of impending doom that accompanies it. I fear for my children's future.

The only silver lining I can see is that global warming is becoming impossible to ignore. Which might help people wake up.

Though a fair number of people on my local blog are still insisting that this is a natural occurrence!

Those are the folks who NOTHING will sway, as in this quote from Tina Fey on SNL- "A new poll shows that 66% of Americans think President Bush is doing a poor job-- and the remaining 34% think Adam and Eve rode dinosaurs to church."

4. Why do you hate America???
A lovely spring day in January! Who could ask for more? They should include it in an upcoming episode of Modern Marvels!

5. It's nice, but it isn't right.
This is what Al Gore has been warning us about.

It's nice to be able to wear a jacket (which I did today) in January. But it's just not right.
