Maybe the host will take requests too, who knows?

I just want to pass on a  and express some :loveya: in that general direction. :hi:

If she would take requests,
I'd like to hear Nat King Cole,
(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66 or
You Can Depend On My.

Thanks, billyskank.

3. Thanks so much for
the link Billy. I haven't had a chance to listen to Jessica's show in a while. As much as I like jazz, I have just discovered Keb' Mo' (contemporary blues) although he's not a new artist. Maybe, just maybe I'll be able to hear one of his pieces?

Thanks a bunch.

Ann Arbor Michigan. Althouth, personally, I think that radio station sucks.

Minnesota Public radio has a MUCH better program on on saturday evenings, Jazz image with Leigh Kammon.

I have a program on that station as well. And our marketing and development director is on DU too. I'm very curious to hear what makes WEMU suck, in your humble opinion.

And on edit - I just spoke with Jessica. She says you two have met - on the corner of Liberty and 5th at the daily protest. She says you seemed nice enough. Not sure what your problem is with WEMU. But thanks so much for weighing in here.

32. Well, in my opinion
and it is only my opinion.

I just dont like modern jazz, and that is all I have ever heard on your station and the stuff drives me crazy.

I have an extensive jazz collection but nothing newer than say approximately 1960's/charlie parker, and even some of his stuff is too new and far out there for me. I personally prefer classic jazz and I understand why so many people are turned off by the word JAZZ when modern JAZZ is all they have heard, most of it is horrendous.

I have to apologize for not remembering who Jessica is, but I am sure that if she says she met me at the protest, then she has.

I spent 5 years in Ann Arbor and never once did I enjoy listening to WEMU for music, infact I was much more likely to be streaming Minnesota Public Radio over the internet and especially Leigh Kammon with the Jazz image on saturday nights.

if it is any consolation, I think Michigan Public Radio as a whole is not as good as Minnesota Public Radio with regards to music and news programs. Interlachen Public Radio in Interlachen Michigan (by Traverse City) is by far the worst Public radio station I have ever heard.

I am sorry to have offended anyone, but it is my honest opinion.

34. Charlie Parker died in 1955, but I get your point.
I guess it would be less offensive if you say that you don't like the kind of music they play, rather than saying that the station sucks. Too bad you never listened on Sunday mornings. Arwulf and The Sunday Best plays all early jazz, and the Grooveyard was all 50s and 60s jazz. And not sure if you ever heard Jessica, but she plays a good mixture of all styles.

Jessica used to be "Progmom" on DU. You met her and her young son and her partner (who used to be "Misunderestimator" on DU) last summer at the daily protest.

37. It's Interlochen
Home of one of the most respected summer arts camp and year round arts boarding schools in the world. Alumni include Lorin Maazel, Chris Brubeck, Norah Jones, Peter Yarrow, Felicity Huffman, Tom Hulce, Tovah Feldshuh, Linda Hunt, Dermot Mulroney, Jennifer Ehle, Pat Oleszko and Robert Snyder, among many others.

The Interlochen public radio station that you hate so much has a classical music focus. Their musical director is Dick Wallace, formerly of WQRS in Detroit. If you don't enjoy classical music, then you won't like IPR. That doesn't mean it sucks, it just means that you don't like it. There is a difference. Don't mistake your personal opinion with fact.

42. The Interlachen arts camp..
has nothing to do with the radio station.

I am in fact a huge classical music fan. In my opinion, IPR sucks, it is not a good public radio station.

Which as far as I know, has NOTHING to do with the Interlachen arts camp.

38. It is impossible
for an opinion to be wrong because it is only an opinion held by the person espousing the particular opinion. just because you dont agree with MY opinion does not make it wrong because it is only MY opinion, not your opinion.

Facts can be wrong, but opinions can not.

39. Sure they can
If it is your opinion that gravity does not exist, then you would be wrong. Especially if you tested your opinion by jumping off a building. Many people are of the opinion that the Holocaust never happened. Guess what? They're wrong, too.

When your opinion directly contradicts fact, then your opinion is wrong.

My opinions are mine, they do not have to be the same as yours.

They are ONLY opinions.

The ONLY way for MY opinion to be wrong would be to not believe my own opinion, or give a false opinion that I dont actually hold.

Opinions are NOT facts, they are merely opinions.

41. How Funny
That's what I said to you in this post:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=6025113&mesg_id=6025831

The thing is, I don't believe you when you said that you didn't want to offend anybody. I believe that contrary to your statement, you were definitely trying to offend. If not looking for controversy, why wade in to post how much you dislike the radio station, when it is obvious that dj being discussed is a friend of many DUers? If not looking for flames, why state that you think the station in question "sucks" and then state that your friend's show is so much better?

Of course, that's just my opinion. :eyes:

I'm not confusing anything. I'm just trying to figure out why you're so keen on flaming pubic radio stations that don't employ your friend. The answer to that has been conspicuously absent from your replies.

Fortunately (for me anyway), I've gotten bored with this whole thing and no longer care why you have the need to stir up shit on an innocuous thread like this. Rather than continue this exchange, I'm going out to dinner and a movie. Have fun making friends and influencing people.

Their format changes every few hours from 60's freak stuff, to jazz, to Latin. Very liberal station. The ONLY thing I like about Florida is WMNF.
