Quick Question for the History Buffs
With the death of President Ford we are now down to 3 living former Presidents, Carter, Bush 41 and Clinton.

My question is this, at which times during American history have we had the most and least living former Presidents?

we had the most not too long ago.

During Clinton's early presidency, we had Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan and Bush I. I think 5 was the max.

The fewest living former presidents would be during George Washington's presidency :D

3. Zero survivors. . .
Between the time LBJ died and the time when Nixon quit, there were no surviving former Prezzes. I think you're right about the five, though.

4. Technically, that's not true, there were/was (I'm thinking many) (a) President before

George. John Hanson is the one that springs to mind. The country was called the United States of America, so in that sense, he was the President, but it wasn't under the Constitution, it was under the Articles of Confederation or something like that.
