Band I was in did some openers for these guys in the early 80's. They were loud. Really loud. They rocked. Really hard.

Anyone else remember them/see them way back when? Cowpunk!!!

I used to own their first EP and first album.

They did a great cover of Neil Young's Powderfinger...

and Dylan too!

3. What a rockin' outfit, huh?
We were doing some midwest openers for 'em when Sweet Marie Blew up...

Trivia: Jason is cousins (first, I think) w/ the whole Mickey Gilley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and sinful preacher--I'm spacing on his name;the one who got caught w/ a prostitute--cousins/family, etc...

never got a chance to see the Scorchers.

Saw the Beat Farmers in LA. Freaking great show...

Seriously. If memory serves, all 4 guys are first or second cousins.

I recall the Beat Farmers too. Never saw them live.

7. No kidding?
The shows were so, so frenetic and sweaty and American. They'd drop in a slow cover like Streets of Baltimore or Long black Veil and sound so damn real. And Jason was so truly nice...not just rock and roll lip service nice.

Where'd you play w/ and or see them?

Anyhow, rock on friend....

8. Played with them in a couple of different places in GA...
I also saw them much later in the early 90s when they came back. They were still great and I was so impressed with how much love was directed at them by the audience.

I put this song on a few mixed tapes for friends and they were always blown away by it.
