Can someone please explain the "copycat thread" to me?
Edited on Fri Dec-29-06 03:40 PM by FedUpWithIt All
Are there certain rules to this?

For example, could..."I Bought a House Today" be turned into "I Caught a Louse Today?"

Does the rhyme have to be only one word of the original or can it be several?

Is there a point system? If so does one get more points for an IBTL copycat?

Is there a DU record for most copycats of a single thread?

A trophy at the end of the year? ::shrug::

Inquiring minds want to know....

:dunce: :hi:

Edited to add...

1. There are rules?
I was not aware of this.
I think the only rule is to be either extremely clever or alternately to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

The middle ground does not work out so well. Kinda falls flat.

3. the answers you seek...
1) the square of the hypotenuse
2) Frederick Barbarossa
3) a suffusion of yellow
4) one astronomical unit
5) ask again tomorrow

i hope that clears up any confusion you may have had or will have in the future.

4. There are no rules for a truly fine copycat.
Like good art, you just know it when you see it. Although I do think those copycats that have to be locked are a bit more funny.

9. The holy grail of copy catting is to lure the OP of the copy catted thread...
Edited on Fri Dec-29-06 03:48 PM by Prag
to accidentally post in the copy cat thread.

Next best is to lure a sub-poster into the copy cat thread.

It's only been done twice that I know of... Bikewriter did it once.

There was another time, but, I can't recall the specifics.

Otherwise, it's to be snarky and have fun.

Try not to do it to serious or important threads, tho... It can make
one enemies not to mention it's rude.
