I'm sick...
...yep, I caught the germy, crappy, creepy crud. I'd like to hunt down the person that gave it to me and kill them with my bare hands.

The glands in my neck are swollen and I have a fever and it feels like someone it tickling the inside of my throat with a hot knife.

Grrr...:grr:

Oh, and yes, I still have a house full of guests...until Jan. 4th.

Anybody have any spare vibes? :-(

1. I feel for you.
May you not pass it to your guests and still find a way to enjoy their company.

3. Thanks
Yes, you are right, I need to be careful not to pass it on to them.

They are gone for the day, at least...they drove to a nearby town to visit an old friend.

Maybe I'll just quarantine myself in my bedroom for the next 72 hours (except when I have to work tomorrow).

2. I'm wicked sick too, but no guests, thank goodness!

Maybe we'll both be in better form in time for New Years.

8. Thanks. And, while I do appreciate...
... your concern...about not going to work tomorrow (and concern for my co-workers), let me try to explain. In the airlines, and it's this way with all of them, (I feel I can say that since I've worked for 3 of them now) you don't get an option of calling in sick on a holiday (which they consider the day before, the actual holiday, and the day after).

I already broke this cardinal rule Dec. 31, 2000. I refused to drive 40 miles into work during an ice storm...especially since I worked until midnight back then. When I called in I told them, "I can take drunks or I can take ice, but I can't take drunks on ice." So, they discipled me for that. And, you are given about 2 of these "occurrences" during your entire career with an airline. Then, last year, I was very sick on New Year's Day and made it into work, but couldn't handle going in on Jan. 2. So, I have two of these very bad "black marks" already.

It's a tough business, definitely, but I have no choice. That's why I decided to take a few hours off today (when it was authorized). So...even though tomorrow is not a holiday for most people, for airline people it is a *mandatory* work day if you are scheduled. I hope that sheds some light on the matter.

For the record, I love my job...as sick, mentally, as that might sound.
