Greatest 5 seconds of Rock and Roll....
The rise David Gilmour does on the Pedal Steel to mark the beginning of Clarie Torry's vocals on "The Great Gig in the Sky"

Gives me goosebumps EVERY TIME and I've heard this song a million times....

the drum/guitar solo part.....golden

this is longer than 5 seconds- but the african sounding breakdown just before the guitar solo....that sounds freaky on headphones, gives the illusion that the guitar sounds are shooting from one side of your head to the other.....

24. Opening guitar chords from "Iron Man"...
...right after the weird, distorted-sounding opening line "I am Iron Man!" Maybe it's lost some of its cachet after Ozzy sold it out to Nissan for their Titan commercials. "Yeah, that Robert Plant is such a sell-out for letting Cadillac use their stuff in commercials...Sabbath would never do that!" Oops... :hide:

26. There's some from each era.....I'll stop at the late 70s
Elvis Singing "Warden threw a Party at the County Jail"

Chuck Berry intro to Johnny B. Goode

Jerry Lee Lewis singing "You leave me........Breathless"

Little Richard singing "A Wop Bop a Loo Bop a Lop Bam Boom"

The intro to "I Saw Her Standing There"

John Lennon screaming in Revolution

Pick pretty much any five seconds of a Jimi Hendrix solo

Janis Joplin singing "You know you got it, if it makes you feel good" in Piece of my Heart, from Big Brother & the Holding Company

Keith Richards' playing in the first verse of Street Fighting Man on "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out"

And if the Band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the Dark Side of the Moon.

Fuck this and fuck that Fuck it all and fuck a fucking brat - Sex Pistols - "Bodies"

Highways Jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive

The segue from Sheena is a Punk Rocker into Havana Affair on "It's Alive" from the Ramones

27. My opinion..
"One... two...three...FOUR!"

The first thing you heard on the first Beatles album.

There are tons of important things before that, but to me personally, that is the most important. The Beatles change music, and especially the recording aspects of music. I love recording and production and a lot of it came from picking Beatles recordings apart.

30. I hear ya.
Was that "I Saw her Standing There"?

I can remember them yelling that, but I just can't connect the the song.

It was like they were saying: "Hey, listen to us. NOW!!!".

Music was NEVER the same after that!

37. That's a good choice. And if it came down to the best TWO seconds in rock 'n' roll
my immediate choices would probably be the two opening chords of the "Jailhouse Rock" intro and the sustained strum that opens "A Hard Day's Night" (twelve-strong guitar, right?). Both are instantly recognizable, probably to most people on the planet.
