A Question for the Ladies.......

I've been advised (by my daughter) that it would be a good thing if I used some styling gel....

I have baby fine hair, and I love how it feels!

But I think it would be nice to use this styling gel to help my hair look good all day long.....

Soooooooo.........what do you all use? Any recommendations?

1. My hair is very fine, straight and there is LOTS of it. No gel for moi.

Feels icky. Hot rollers and some witch hazel based, non aresol hair spray does fine most days (but it's not humid where I live)

2. there are some amazing products out there for us fine-haired women now

I like gel. Mousse never did anthing for me, because my hair is too fine.

The most amazing thing I've ever had in my hair is a product called "Thick" that a stylist friend used on me after she cut my hair. It was like I had a completely different head of hair..and it wasn't heavy at all. I never did buy any because I don't style it every day but I've never forgotten how amazing that stuff is.

I don't plan on styling it every day, but some days I know I'll want to look extra good......

5. I have disgustingly perfect hair

People hate me for my hair, natural wave, all I do it wash it, comb it once and let it air dry and PERFECTION!

Except when it is very very dry then it is all limp and awful.

But any other time...

9. I have wavy, fine hair...

And lots of it. I've never had good luck with gel. It's just too heavy for my hair. So I tend to use a light frizz lotion to prevent flyaways and then a spritz-on curl reactor to define the waves a bit.

My hair is impossible when it sits between my ears to my shoulders. Once it starts to get long enough (like now), it starts to get weighed down and then I can deal with it better. :)

This is my hair a few months back with just my usual frizz-free lotion and curl reactor spray. I was even standing by a spraying sea and it still held up ok:

13. Hi Peggy!!

I've had alot of bad experiences with gel- it REALLY dries the hair shaft out and leads to breakage and split ends. Also, unless your realllly careful when you apply it can get clumpy in certain areas.
A good alternative would be some kind of mousse, if you are so inclined!

My favorite styling aide is by Sebastian - it is called POTION 9.
Absolutely Fabulous!! You can pick it up at CVS or other drug stores that carry Sebastian.
A tube lasts FOREVER- I've had mine for almost a year and I have fairly long hair.


FWIW- I think the pix of your new 'do are fantabulous! You look GREAT.

15. Oh, and it makes my hair feel like silk!

But it keeps it under control- easier to style for sure.
I use it before blow drying, straightening or curling.
i've been told you should always put something on your hair before you use heat.

lol


Potion 9 isn't expensive, I think it's like $12?
