3. from a long and distinguished line of
poor white trash. I'm a mutt of European ancestry.

My mother was born in Topeka, Kansas; my father, Corn, Oklahoma. My father's great grandfather emigrated from Walheim, South Russia (now part of Poland, I believe) in 1874. My father's people were farmers; my mother's -- no clue. Hopefully I'll be able to find out soon.

I was born & raised in So. California; lived there until 2000, when I moved to Maryland. I brought myself up as a Baptist, but am now a spiritual mutt, too.

Seriously, I'm a 31 (for another month anyway) year old married mom who's Protestant, Methodist that is (but grew up in both Protestant and Catholic churches- long story). My genetic ancestry is mainly English (also a little Scot thrown in there) and Swedish with a touch of German.

I grew up primarily in Omaha, NE, but have lived in Connecticut since I was 15.

Ten generations in America in the male line, back to the mid-1600's. My most recent immigrant ancestors came to the US from Ireland in 1849 (along with so many other Irish who came here at the same time). Most of my various ancestors seem to've arrived before the Revolution, though.

33. Half yemeni and half mutt
insofar as everyone in my particular Indian subcaste is a mutt — so you have a lot of odd tributaries on your bloodline . . . slavic, anatolian, dravidian, pharisee, MONGOLIAN. genetic variation is a great thing. but it's also very complicated! We're sort of the indian nobility, so our history hasn't much to gloat about. (Wow! We owned a lot of property! and PEOPLE! we owned PEOPLE! It fills me with shame but I'm drunk and garrulous at the moment.)

at least my Yemeni side is guilt free. That's my mother's side, on which everyone was either nuts of consciously depraved.

both sides were fairly affluent and prominent in their day. that doesn't count for much here, though =\

34. Native Angelino Caucasian; dad was Texan, mom was born in Seattle...
They met at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica during WWII; my mom had a job finding housing for servicemen, and my dad was a captain in the Army Air Corps who tested planes off the line. They were both in failing marriages at the time, and they just had to be together. (Glad that they were!)

My dad's ancestors were Scottish (with some Huguenot thrown in) who came to South Carolina, then moved to Georgia and Mississippi, then to Texas after the Civil War. My mom's family was from Ohio -- English, Scottish and some "Pennsylvania Dutch." Reckon it all makes me your basic American Caucasian mutt.

Was baptized at Westwood Methodist, but my people weren't serious churchgoers.

I reflect on this with some sentiment, as with the death of my mom last year, 2004 is my first parent-less year on earth. I realize that some kids never even know their parents, but it just feels strange...

39. Scottish ancestry, Methodist religion
My father was a genealogy expert, and traced our family back to a group who were thrown out of Scotland in the late 1600s (I forget why). My parents were New Deal democrats and fans of Pete Seeger. My paternal grandparents were textile union organizers who were effectively thrown out of their hometown for being "socialists". Besides the almost-100% Scots, Dad found an Italian ancester who was one of Thos. Jefferson's servants (not certain in what capacity -- either stoneworker or vineyard worder, Dad thought).

57. White, male, 41, a Methodist.
I'm so WASP-ish, I have a stinger attached to my butt.

Father was a UAW member, descended from German ancestry (I think). My Mom is part Dutch. Ethnicity has not played a huge role in our lives - we were pretty much a middle-American, middle class, middle of the Bell Curve family.

Norman Rockwellian, you might be inclined to say...

61. I am an idiot, coming from a long line of idiots...
Short bio:

Western European male: German/English/Dutch

Personal: Born in NY, Jamaica, Queens; vet, moved all over the place with Army. Finally got out at Ft Lewis, WA, lived in Seattle, Tacoma, Kent areas; moved to Kingman AZ; relocated to Norfolk, NE, (current).

A little overweight; seperated w/15 yo son living with me; IQ: 142; 5'10"; blue eyes; quit drinking over 13 years ago; great sense of humor, (but that really shines in personal contact vs writing). I am a practicing Christian of no particular denomination, (too much hate and hypocrisy in ANY organized religion these days).

Have spent most of my life fighting for the rights of anyone/group I feel is being oppressed, (I can be intense in this regard).

Have received numerous medals, citations, certificates; am devoid of fear; have a huge heart.

I make mistakes, but only once.

That's about it, just your average American Patriot on the Liberal/Progressive side.

Did I mention that I despise bush and this admin with a passion that borders on hellish proportions! :grr: :nuke:

Now I feel like I'm on some kind of "Singles Dating Site". Jeez

73. Female. Mostly Irish Catholic with some Norwegian, Welsh, and English
thrown in. Strawberry-blonde, blue-eyed, glow-in-the-dark skin. Urban, liberal, from Cambridge, MA (a right-winger's worst nightmare). I've lived my whole life in Cambridge aside from brief stints in NYC and Europe.

Enneagram 7 or 8, ENTP or ESTP, Pisces with Moon in Aries and Libra Rising. I guess the astrology explains why I have two scores on Myers-Briggs and Enneagram.

102. American
All my great-great-great grandparents were born in the United States. Most of my ancestors were here before the American revolution. Of the ancestors we have traced, they have come from many different places and many different backgrounds. I don't like the term mutt. I am multiethnic. I don't know why anyone would think that being of "pure" blood would be better. Anyway, anyone who has been in a country as many generations as myself that freely interbreeds with the native population is usually considered to be of that ethnic group. That is why I call myself American.
As far as religion, my ancestors have been most Christian denominations, Jewish, Native American religions, and Pagan (One of my European female ancestors was a folk healer).
I was born and raised in Ohio and moved to Wisconsin for college.
