8. Why?
Edited on Sun Dec-24-06 10:23 PM by benny05
Are you alone? No family or best friends able to reach out?

Ten years ago, I was alone most of the two days...Eve and Xmas Day. But a colleague and I went to movie, a party, and for about 2 hours, on Xmas eve. On Xmas Day, we had dinner together and exchanged a gift and thoughts. It was tough for both of us, but we did it. No family around otherwise; no phone calls from siblings, etc.

No attractions either..if you know what I mean. Just good company.

I am thankful for DU people around again today. Wish I had you as a group 11 years ago, but I still am grateful for you and to reach out to you, even when I have a couple of loved ones around.

:-)

And my siblings don't love me today, unless I have something to offer to return on an investment.

I have made two more friends since then. One is my first spouse and the other is my second spouse. Both get along great.

But it sucked big time at the time I spoke of.

2. Excited and full of joy might be overstating it a bit.
But it was closest to my feelings of the choices. We always do a few gifts on Christmas Eve and it's always fun to see the kids enjoy themselves.

Oh, I can't mention the half of it, but I haven't even opened up any alcohol yet. It's been a wild one so far. That's for sure. Let's just say my only favorite neighbor has been arrested, my stepdad almost ran over the mayor and my aunt can't even look at me. I guess I'll go mine some coal in Runescape for Santa to bring me.

Sunday Girl is getting a plush soft cushy Spiderman blanket for Christmas though and the kittens, Yogi and Domino are getting all sorts of noisy ass toys coated in catnip. Yep, it's gonna be a crazy one here. I might just crank up the Blondie music, break out my guitar and amp and let my cats take turn stage diving off the couch like they do when I'm ripped.

About 5:00 this morning, I broke out Santa's gifts for the cats once they all were good and asleep (I thought). I got Sunday Girl's Spiderman blankie out first hoping to be real quiet. I had to cut about 20 of those little plastic things they put in clothes with the T shapes at both ends off of it before I could even open it up. I was as quiet as possible so I could surprise the cats. Well, it didn't work out that way. As if unfolding a baby blankie could make noise, my cats started stretching and coming from all over the place in the trailer. They were groggy eyed, but still really really interested in the new stuff and wondered what mommy was doing. I wrapped Sunday's blankie around her and her eyes opened wide. She got up and started rubbing her chin on it. My aunt told me to put it on the floor and stretch it out. First thing Sunday Girl did was look at Spiderman and got to his face and smell him. I guess to her the colors forming Spiderman in the fabric were alive or something. All three cats eventually ended up on the blankie while I broke out the rest of the toys.

The bag was deeper and had more toys in it than I had originially thought. I kept taking them out one by one and giving them to each cat until my arm started getting tired. So I just dumped the last of them on the floor. Immediately Domino began making her way for the last pile of toys and rolled in them with this gleeful look on her face. She has had asthma for years and has spent years not really interacting much, so that was a breakthrough. She was happy as can be. Yogi yawned a couple of times while Sunday Girl tore through the other piles of toys everywhere on the floor. She went from one to the other batting them and throwing them. Yogi started perking up and doing the same. They wiggled their asses at each other and jumped out and ambushed each other and played like one big happy family. For Sunday Girl to play with the younger cats is also a breakthrough. She is the cat that normally sits outside the litter box (it's hooded) and waits for Yogi to finish so she can tattoo his ass as he runs away when she ambushes him when he gets out of the box. Her playing with the kittens like that was unheard of.

We all finally wore ourselves out and got sleepy and went to bed. I didn't wake up until 2:30 this afternoon. When I went to the other part of the house through the living room, it looked like someone had a huge party for all the neighborhood cats. There were about a dozen cat toys or more strewed from one end of the trailer to the other. I almost stepped on a couple of the pointy ones. I had to put them in the toy box so my aunt could drive her scooter through. Otherwise she would have ran over all of them. They were everywhere.

Weird thing about all this is that I never even got around to putting the catnip on anything.

kid woke us up at precisely 8:01 (we told him not before 8 am and he's 10 so that works out!)

This is after we cooked and did X-mas Eve stuff for about 12 hours straight. So we are happy but fried!

Winter and Solstice greetings for all who are happy and not so happy. I always sit and make a list of all the things I have accomplished during the year ( even small things) and make some gingerbread, and that makes it all seem right.

38. Excited and full of joy closest to matching my feelings
I expected to be sad and depressed this Christmas season due to a number of factors in my personal life including the illness and absence of a loved one in my family. But despite the depressing factors in my life, I had a much better than expected Christmas and spent much of it with my BIL's family instead -which was a great experience as always

41. I picked - ho ho whatever,
but it really is a good neutral emotion. It was a good day at the in-laws...very peaceful. We have a bit of a break for a couple hours and will be heading to my parents tonight.

I was very stressed before Christmas. I am an artist and I get commissioned to paint and draw house portraits, dog portraits, llama portraits, etc for gifts. I worked until the bitter end, finishing my last piece yesterday. I stayed up until 3am almost every night this past week trying to get all my work done.

So this is my time to take a deep breath and relax.

Blessings to all of you on DU! I wish you all happiness and peace.
