2. The definitive answer
Analogue can indeed sound better than digital if you have a good recording and high quality equipment. The point that analogue bigots make about digital not being perfect is quite true, because digital is necessarily an approximation. However, the 'perfection' about digital is that a single digital work can be reproduced forever without loss. This is categorically NOT possible with analogue. The other good thing about digital is that digital technology has made copying and editing tools available to the masses, which is why the RIAA and MPAA are so bothered these days.
