1. this has already been polled
but if the Raiders were in the NFC they might still have a shot at the play-offs. Supposedly the Packers still do and the 49ers too.

The newly founded Tampa Bay Bucs went 0-14 for their first two years. Which would be a good trivia question. What was the name of the first team that lost to them?

3. maybe they just aren't playing dirty this year
:hide:

Hey, a team can't make the Superbowl or the play-offs every year. Just ask Chiefs fans.

20. As a Saints I'd like to thank the Oakland Raiders
for taking Aaron Brooks. Take our quarterback, please.

11. The New Orleans Saints.
I still remember the highlights of that game, which had the Bucs pointing at the Saints at the end of the game and chanting "it's disgraceful!" because some of the Saints said it would be a disgrace to lose to them. The game score was 33-14, and the Bucs won their next game as well to finish the year 2-12.

13. I remember the Pats and Bills were incredibly bad for years
Particularly the Bills. I shared a flight with a guy who was lineman during their first two years and he said the backfield was terrified to play most teams since the offensive line was made up of cripples who could barely move. Led to lots of sacks and jarring gang tackles. I forget their record those years, but it was pretty awful.

They will suck as long as the Fords own the team.

The halfback leaves the huddle in tears.

Hell, I think the Duke University football team could win 4 in the NFC this year. The Lions are a total joke.

14. I agree
Poor Cardinal fans. Some have lived their whole lives and died without ever seeing any success.

I've been a lifelong Brown's fan and I'm starting to feel what the poor Cardinals and Lions have been going through. I don't like it at all.

15. Yeah! One win, and it wasn't even Aikman. He was injured.
Steve Walsh got the win against the Redskins. 1989. Cowboys won one game that year.

Still, the Cowboys looked like they were getting better by the end of the year. Aikman came back from his injury and had an impressive game. The Raiders look like they're just dead on the tarmac.

The 1976-77 Bucs were much worse than this year's Raiders. Much.

26. I agree with you on the Bucs.
Their average margin of defeat was 20 points and they were shut out 5 times during the 1976 season.

19. The 1968 Philadelphia Eagles
Horrendous. Even fucked up the draft, won two of their last three games and missed the opportunity to draft O. J. Simpson. The same year Eagles fans threw snowballs at Santa Claus.

22. keeripes, these fairweather Michigan fans need to quit dissing the Lions
they made the play-offs in 1970, 1982, 1983, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, and 1999.
True, those involved alot of first round losses, and there have been no Superbowl appearances, much less victories. But in 1991, they spanked the Cowboys 38-6 in the first round before losing to the Redskins in the NFC championship.

http://www.detroitlions.com/document_display.cfm?cont_id=108650

Compare that to the Cleveland Browns for the last two decades. Playoff appearances in 2002, 1994, 1989, 1988, 1987, and 1986. True, they played in the AFC championship in 1986, 1987, and 1989, but they have made zero superbowl appearances. And only two play-off appearances since 1990, compared to 6 for the Lions.

Consider the milquetoasts of the midway - da Bears. After their superbowl win in 1986, they only made the play-offs in 1990, 1991, 1995 and 2001. That's four play-off appearances vs. 6 for the Lions.

The Atlanta Falcons had a good year in 1991, going 10-6 and losing to the Redskins one game before the Skins played the Lions. Then they were 6-10, 6-10, 7-9, 9-7,3-13, and 7-9 before they finally went 14-2 and got embarrassed in the Superbowl.

But the Lions do seem to be the worst team this year.

32. Last year's Niners should be in the running.
They were awful all around, but they had this uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory that made them even worse than they really ought to have been.

Oh, and they won two games. Two! :eyes:
