questions about the TV show "House"
I've been watching this on DVD but unfortunately have missed a few so I'm seeing them out of order - could someone please tell me how House got his limp and what was the orginal relationship between House and the gal played by Sela Ward; thanks.

4. She wasn't his wife, but lived with him at some point in the past.
She has married since they split up, and at least one episode has them considering an affair. Probably more, I've only seen the one. She is an attorney who represents either him or the hospital--haven't figured that one out yet. I've only seen a few episodes, but one of them had a lot about her in it.

3. There's an episode that explains the leg.
If I remember right, House had a massive infection in the leg. The sensible choice was amputation, but he wouldn't allow it. They put him through some typically bizarre House-style treatment that saved the leg, but left him in constant, debilitating pain. Now he's hooked on painkillers, and has just come to a crisis-point: a judge has sent him to rehab.

Regarding Sela Ward, I think they were lovers years ago, but split up because he wouldn't commit. Now she's back in his professional life, but married to someone else.

7. The cause of his limp is
He had a massive infarction in his leg. For the uninitiated and infarction is a blood clot. When it is in your heart it is a heart attack, in your lung it is in a Pulmonary Embolism, either way it cuts off blood flow and causes muscle death. House had one when he was with Sela Ward's character. He was advised that amputation was the best way to treat it otherwise he would have pain the rest of his life. He chose not to cut off his leg, but couldn't take the pain anymore. He went into a drug induced coma to get over the worst of it when Sela told Cuddy to perform a surgery that took away the dead muscle and would help in the long run, but it ended their relationship.

Man I know way too much about this.
