I think AfriCam is a joke.
I know it's set up in someone's back yard or park with a lot of 'canned' insect chirping going on. I never see anything there. waaahhhhhhh

3. I have found the best time
is around 9 to 11:30 am or so EST. Today I saw giraffes and zebras and lots of other critters. There was a lot of activity thre today. At night (EST) is when I have seen the elephants and the hyenas.

6. keep it minimized
but keep the sound up (it's live, not canned). Surf or whatever and every now and then, or if you hear something unusual, bring it back up. It won't be too long till you see some really cool stuff.

Guaranteed.

9. do this for 2 days
then you'll find your self in Africam junkie hell with the rest of us lost souls.

I hardly ever eat, I never sleep, my skin is sagging, one more missed day and I'll lose my job.
I don't care. I'll go to the library. Computers. Africam. It's all I need. It's all I want.

10. it's true that if you just keep the sound on at a low level...
...you'll hear when there is a ruckus or even an animal drinking from the waterhole and be able to see it. But many of the best animals don't make any sound. The elephant we saw the other day was extremely quiet. And the giraffes feed in the trees in the background, so I don't think they are noisy. But you won't miss Mr. & Mrs. Warthog, filthy little beasts that they are! And if you hear the hyenas screaming or laughing, you'll never forget it.

11. Yeah, the hyenas and baboons
really make a lot of strange sounds. Some don't even sound earthly.

And about the sound. Last week I just happened to be looking when a lone male lion showed up. He hung around for maybe 10 minutes. Didn't drink and never made a sound.

12. damn, damn, damn!
You saw a lion?? Holy moly. I'm so jealous.

The worst thing is when you hear something grunting or breathing nearby but the camera doesn't go to it.

13. actually, I saw 2, maybe 3 that night
A while later a male and a female came and drank roughly 15,000 gallons of water and then mosied away. I couldn't tell if it was the same male I saw earlier, but it looked like it might have been.

Really, those two drank a LOT of water.
