I am not looking forward to my holiday trip "home"
I say "home" because it is where my parents lived but where I have never spent very much time. They moved there when I was almost done with college. So it isn't really home. I am not looking forward to it because I am really tired of doing the same damn thing every single year. I get there and spend most of my time alone in the house because I will not have a car (they both work). I could (and have) borrowed theirs but I always have to be back to pick them up from work. Maybe I should rent a car for a couple of days and go to Vermont or something.

To top it all off, I specifically bought a ticket to fly out of Austin rather than Corpus with the understanding that I could leave my car at my aunt's house and spend the night there the night before (my flight leaves at 7 am). But I have been calling my aunt for two days with no response. They had talked about going out of town but the last time we talked they were planning on going away for New Year's, not Christmas. It is not a question of getting to the airport- I already have a reservation on one of those shuttle buses, way cheaper than a taxi. The bus is supposed to pick me up at 5 am at her house. If I have no place to stay Monday night, what shall I do with the time between getting to her house and the time the bus is to pick me up? Maybe some all-night diner. I thought I had it all arranged and now I have no idea.

1. Sorry you're stressed!!
Renting a car is a really good idea. I myself am making the dreaded trip to Iowa to visit the grannies with my parents and kid, and I always feel so trapped because there is NOTHING to do there and I am dependant on my Dad to go anywhere.

Maybe you could try to organize a DU gathering of sorts if there is anyone in the area? THAT would be super cool!

I am just feeling Blah at the moment. Next year I will either stay home or take a small vacation for myself.
