Poll question: Salt or no salt?

I don't like salt on the rim of my margarita glass. Blech.

1. The salt is the signal to my mouth that I'm about to get margarita.
Almost any drink can have no salt. Only a few have really earned the right.

3. A salty dog is the only other one I can think of off the top of my head.
But that salt get shaken in the glass after the drink is made.

Oh, and Bloody Mary's have salt in them as well.

36. At my college bartending job we sometimes rimmed Bloody Marys
with Old Bay seasoning. It made for a nice presentation and a spicy drink.

37. Very nice.
If I was still bartending, I would "borrow" that one from you.

Just inspired to post my first poll question.

7. And as a former bartender,
I prefer to MAKE them on the rocks and not frozen.

I'll buy this round as long as you buy the next!

11. I hope your first one is good.
It's pretty easy to screw-up a margarita. It's more of a summer drink for me, but I ran out of vodka and had some tequila left.

16. And that's what's weird about my aversion:
I prefer salt over sweet, as well. Give me a bag or Doritos over M&M's any day. The first drink I ever had at a bar was a margarita and it had salt on it and I thought it was gross. Maybe I should give it a shot again.

24. That first sip always give me a full-body reaction.
The sweet and the tart makes me shiver. I always top the margarita off with a hit of water to try and cut the S & S.

The top of Mr. JackBeck's head always sweats from the S & S. Mine doesn't.

10. I don't drink margaritas because I positively LOATHE tequila.
So the question is irrelevant, in my case.

But all in all I prefer whiskey (bourbon or rye, usually, but also Scotch or Irish).

Never with sugar. Now that makes me gag! :puke:

I haven't had one in soooo long. I need to make trip to the really good Mexican restaurant in town. Two of theirs and I am happy as a clam. :D

27. I worked with a newbie bartender who did that.
He put the salt where the sugar should have been and the sugar where the salt should have been. He pissed off a few margarita and sidecar drinkers that night.

28. It boggles the mind, MissMillie.
I saw this happen many times. Maybe because the salt sometimes gets inside the glass and collects at the bottom. Who knows, though, it still does not make any sense.

32. Yes, it has and thank you for asking.
Mr. JackBeck will land tomorrow at 6pm. His dinner request, after two weeks of Swedish food (ie, fish for breakfast, lunch and dinner), is bacon cheeseburgers, beer and french fries. And then lots of snuggling.
