Weird chess sets
I just saw a really odd chess set.

Different size shot glasses.

Call me clueless, but if I drink what's in the chess pieces I take, soon I'll be making some BIG mistakes!

Any more weird chess sets you've seen?

4. Do you remember the name of the museum?
I'll probably be going to Montreal again and I'd like to see that.

5. Don't know if it qualifies as "weird"...
but it probably would, to most people, since it's not the standard Staunton set...my favourite chess set is the one designed by Man Ray in the 1920's. The pieces are metal, and mostly geometric solids. The pawns are spheres, the rooks are cubes, the knights look rather like miniature versions of the head of a violin, the bishops are shaped like tiny urns, the queen is a square-base pyramid with isosceles faces, and the king is a cone. (I've given a description, because it's hard to tell in the best picture I could find.)

8. Strange ones here--

I once made a set out of nuts and bolts, with some other hardware thrown in.

Seems I've seen one somewhere made from salvaged electronic parts.

9. That is a good quote you use. HL was in the GOP
I was slow getting to you on that. I do like the man a lot. Also Man Ray's stuff.

10. Heh...he wasn't a Republican...but he wasn't a Democrat, either.
Here's another pretty good quote from him: "In this world of sin and sorrow there is always something to be thankful for. As for me, I am thankful that I am not a Republican."
