My office party today - Brazilian steakhouse

We are going to this place called Brasa grill Steakhouse.

Here's what it says:

The Brasa Grill Steakhouse in a truely unique Cleveland restaurant, featuring "continuous tableside service" of beef, pork, lamb, chicken and turkey. Needless to say, we are a haven for meat lovers, but we also feature an incredible "salad bar" that you won't believe until you see it.

Churrascaria (choo-rah-scah-REE-ah) is the name used to describe a restaurant that serves meat, mostly grilled, and Rodizio is a method of serving the different cuts of meat that originated in the south of Brazil in the early 1800's. The concept is to serve a wide variety of different cuts of beef, pork, lamb, chicken, etc., in succession, to each diner individually right at their table, thus there is not a traditional menu. The restaurant features a fixed-price continuous tableside service. In addition diners can choose from 40 different salads including sushi, seafood and pastas at their leisure from salad bar.

And about the Chef:

The Brasa Grill Steakhouse would like to introduce our Executive Chef, Marcelo Fadul. He has worked as a Chef at 4 Diamond restaurants in Spain and New York City. Marcelo was born and raised in Brazil. While he was in Brazil, he mastered the Brazilian cuisine.

They also have a bus limo taking us down there. It sounds like it might be good, but I hate being stuck with my co-workers.

Exactly as described: you go through a salad bar (don't load up) and then sit down. In front of each diner is a coaster: red on one side, green on the other.

Turn it to green and the games begin: A constant parade of waiters carrying metal skewers on which is one kind of meat: beef (sirloin, ribeye, filet mignon, skirt steak, etc etc); pork (tenderloin, sausage, chops); lamb; chicken. You get one slice of whatever one(s) you want, then wait for the next one.

When you've had enough, or want to take a break, you turn the coaster to red.

Back to green, and the parade starts again.

That's how they get you. You get all filled up on salads and sushi, then you don't have any room for all the meat, glorious meat that comes later.

9. There's one of those restaurants in NYC

around the theater district somewhere. I know someone who has eaten dinner there before and he said it was a totally amazing experience. It was a price fixed $40+ per person so I'm just waiting for a special occasion to come along so I can go there.

I did have dinner at a Caribbean steak house in Las Vegas (the same type of family style meat-fest) and it was one of the best dinners I've ever had in my life. I would imagine that these two restaurants are similar...so color me jealous!

21. We had my wife's grandmother's 90th birthday party at a place like that

here in NJ. About 100 people or so. Lots and lots of food. Was pretty good too. They had sushi at the buffet, that sucked, but everything else was really good.

22. OK, I gained about 20 pounds

The buffet was great. Let's see... artichoke salads, palm hearts, cold muscles, real greens for salad, tortellini with cheese sauce, shramps and a hell of a lot of really good food.

I ordered a gin and tonic. Let's put it this way, I don't put that much gin in my own drinks I make at home! Yee haw..... I had five..LOL

Then came the meat, and the meat and the meat and the meat. Chicken, pork, beef, lamb and all kinds of all of them. I was hurtin' pretty bad. They bring it on skewers and slice a piece for you which you grab with your personal tongs. 16 different types of meats. I almost blew up.

I ordered more drinks.

Then one of the beautiful servers came over, and she said (what I thought I heard) "Can I do you some favors?".
When she walked away, I told the people around me, "She just asked if she can do me some favors" I raised my arms and said "I LOVE THIS PLACE!" The few of us sitting there laughed so hard we had tears. I hurt my ribs.. it was funny, you had to be there.

And get this.. I actually won one of the baskets that some managers put together. I got two bottles of wine, some coffee beans, pancake mix, maple syrup, homemade jam and some other things all made in various parts of Ohio. I never win anything.

The bus driver took us around the square to check out the lights and we came back home.

It was a pretty cool time.
