ok, so at the neighborhood 4th block party, a friend of mine brought an exchange student from Spain with her. I was talking to her in the small bit of Spanish I know (I've only been taking it for a year) and my freeper neighbor lady is giving me questions to ask her cuz she doesn't know any Spanish. (Questions like does she go to church because of course you're not even worth associating with unless you do go)So then Marge, my neighbor, wanted me to ask her what people in Spain think of the Iraq war.
I just looked at her, thiniking, "how the hell am I supposed to know how to ask her that?" And I think she was saying this just to irk me, because she knows my family is very anti-Shrub. Well, I finally manage to say it to her in a way she understands (I think) and, surprise, she says people in Spain don't support the war.
Marge is very surprised. "But, but, they were our allies! Briana, how do you say allies in Spanish?" "But they were our allies!" She kept repeating that.
Yeah, Marge, it's jut a little matter of the president/prime minister's feeling on the issue. Screw what the rest of the country says! Let's go and bomb like hell!
So I am now one up on my neighbors. Go me!
