Our dog groomer: Bastard with a Shaver
So Mr. Writer and I took our 2 year-old mini Eskie, Pippin, to the dog groomer last week to get him trimmed for the holidays. He returned looking pristine, until we realized that his doggy bits were a bit bare.

When Pippin rolled on his back, it was rather pornographic. Mr. Writer and I had to avert our eyes.

We ignored it, anyway. Eskies have long hair and having his hair shaved in that area helps facilitate cleanly evacuation in our back yard.

But lately Pippin has been itching - really, really itching as his hair grows back. The poor thing flips on his back and scratches and bites that tender area.

Mr. Writer and I began to ask questions. We've taken Pippin to this particular groomer on many occasions, but he never did this to the poor little pooch. I'm sure we can request that he not do that again when we next take him, but is there anything we can do for the poor dog until his hair grows back and the itching lessens?

2. Ummm... it's not quite like that...
he doesn't have balls to speak of anymore. Those are long gone. The groomer shaved his crotch area, and it's very uncomfortable for him. I really don't feel like rubbing anything on him... I just can't figure out how to help the poor dog since he is itching like crazy.

YOU don't have to DO anything. I promise! :P

5. I don't know. Baby powder?
at least you could sprinkle it on him and wouldn't have to rub.

7. My 91-year-old mom would say, "Try Gold Bond Powder !"
She gets itchy spots sometimes, and recommends Gold Bond. My twelve-year-old says it works when he gets itchy from heat. You could apply it with a cotton ball powder puff!
If you have any anti-itch stuff (Calamine, cortisone cream, etc.) I would use it for tonight just to give him some relief.

Poor guy must feel like the dog in this post, but don't show him the picture or he might realize something's missing.

8. I have shaved mine in the past...
I little trim turned into bald and a clogged shower. The pain went away in a few days, not a huge deal. Some lotion might help.

Something like this

Just ask at your local pet store.

11. It could be a little razor burn. Give the groomer a call and ask them what they suggest
since it's their work that is causing the discomfort.

12. well, get a clipper and shave his balls yourself
Then you won't be able to blame the groomer, and your little friend will enjoy... :-)
