"Amazing Race" Finale Thread. (Possible Spoilers Inside)
Edited on Sun Dec-10-06 08:14 PM by JackBeck
In what order do you think the race will end?

My choices are : In first place: Rob and Kimberly

Followed by Tyler and James.

And in third, Lyn and Karlyn.

I've been wrong all season long, so I'm probably wrong tonight.

How do you think it will end?

1. It will probably be Tyler and James.
But I hope it's Lyn and Karlyn. I'm just glad the Blondes are no longer in it, so I'm happy with whoever wins it at this point.

2. I hope it's Lyn and Karlyn, too.
They've been our favorites and we've been cheering them the whole time. I'm soo glad the Blondies are gone. I hated how they used to refer to L & K as "the Sistahs".

24. Oh, well. Sigh.
I just posted that I'm okay with the models winning, though. I thought it was a rather boring finale. I was doing Christmas cards while watching, and didn't really feel compelled to look up at it much. I can't wait for All-Stars.

28. Once they chose the other airport in Paris
I knew they were done. Living in the NYC metro area you kind of know what comes and goes from Kennedy.

If the boys chose the flight to Newark, that would have been hilarious.

3. I'm hoping for Lyn and Karlyn.
If Rob and Kimberly win, I hope she takes her half and gets far, far away from Rob. He's too damn abusive.

I'm just very glad that the blondes are gone.

4. I agree.
Rob and Kimberly seem to have momentum, IMO. I'd love for Lyn and Karlyn to win and we've been cheering for them for quite some time.

The blondes did not deserve to go all the way and we're glad they are gone as well.

5. Blondie hate bandwagon - I've been on it from the beginning!
I'm thinking Tyler and James will most likely win, but am pulling for Lyn & Karlyn. I don't want to see a Rob & Kimberly win, but we've seen worse on TAR (think Freddy & Kendra). I'm waiting for the end of the episode to see if they reveal the teams involved in the heavily-rumored TAR All-Stars for next season...

6. I've wanted them out since the beginning.
At least they are finally gone.

It seems like everyone is pulling for Lyn and Karlyn. Wouldn't that be something is they pull through?

TAR All-Stars has been a rumor for quite some time. Let's see if it gets announced tonight.

19. I spend some time at one of the sites with a TAR forum, but I specifically
avoid the spoiler threads because I actually do want to be surprised when I watch! It definitely becomes easier to handicap once you get down to the final three, though. It often comes down to a footrace at the end, and L&K just hadn't shown the same kind of athleticism the other pairs did in all of the previous legs of the race, when the teams had bunched and had to make a run for it. I feel kind of screwed by the teaser, with CBS not revealing any of the teams, but for this, I'll go to the spoilers!

23. Yeah. Freddy and Kendra was a hard win to stomach.
It makes me feel better about Lyn and Karlyn not winning. I knew they probably wouldn't, but a tiny bit of me still hoped. I'm okay with the models winning. I didn't feel particularly strongly about them either way.

31. this was one year where I wasn't rooting for any of them
Other years I had a favorite or two, but not this year

That's actually what I like about this show - the good guys don't necessarily win. It's the best racers, plus luck. Sometimes the "good guys" win, sometimes the models win.

33. QUESTION- why did James get called for the stand-by flight when the Bama girls
had gotten their name on the list ahead of them???? Or so it seemed, that's the order it was editted anyway.

This was my first time watching this show so I have nothing to compare it to. Pretty interesting-- like, how the women considered to be "beautiful" were able to rely on getting people (men) to help them to a much greater extent... while others could rely more on their own brute strength and athletic ability ... and others like the Bama girls just their determination and perserverance (a different type of strength). I would hope that whoever designs this show tries to get a good mix of challenges.

I started out not hating the blondes but as the weeks wore on I just got SOOOO tired of those same doofus smiles every single frame they're in! They're obviously not the stereotypical "dumb blondes" but God.... show some realness and just stop with the grins already!!!!!!!! Sorry but life is NOT a beauty pageant much as it might seem to be at times...

Only real complaint is I wish they'd show more about the countries they're in... but then I guess that's why we have GLOBE TREKKER (on PBS).

34. Maybe they were just more persistent?
Your observation about "beautiful" women getting help is smack on. I've watched 4 or 5 seasons now and that always seems to be the case. Even more so if the woman is blond. Further proof that life isn't fair but also, I think, a greater feat that the Bamas made it that far without batting a single eyelash. Of the three remaining teams they were the ones I was rooting for. Anyone know how far behind, time-wise, they ended up finishing?

35. Bama's departing flight was a good hour-and-a-half or two behind
the other one, so I'm guessing the margin had to be at least that much. It didn't appear (based on the natural light at their arrival to the finish) like it was THAT much later than the other teams, but there is a possibility that they were told to skip the final task once it became obvious to producers that they were out of the hunt for victory.

For those that are interested, I do have some very interesting spoiler info about the upcoming all-star season!! Please PM if you want this info; I don't want to be accused of ruining the season for anyone!

Their "fatal error" was going to Orly instead of Charles de Gaulle. The second they did that, I knew they'd lost the race.

the ticket counter didn't open up until 4am - Bama got to Charles de Gaulle long before that and all three teams were on equal footing. Rob and Kimberley were able to secure tickets for the flight and the models were lucky enough to get on the flight and there were just no more seats left! Sucked.

46. She not only gave them a home,
On "The View this morning, Rosie “O’Donnell praised the couple for being so friendly and polite to the other teams on Amazing Race and to strangers they encountered along the way” and “then rewarded them with a limited edition Ford Explorer,” canada.com reports.
Rosie also “told them their trailer home in Stone, Kentucky will be replaced by a new single-family house” and “urged them to donate their trailer to a family that needs it.”

They also received, according to TVgasm, “a MacBook computer; a Canon Rebel digital camera; trips to San Diego, Disneyland and the Grand Canyon; a cruise with Rosie O’Donnell’s travel company.”"

Rosie's a huge fan of reality television and she gets sucked in. She's given prizes to a few different people in the past just because she thought they deserved it.
