What are you listening to right now?
At this very second, Tom Waits' "Martha" is playing and it somehow seems appropriate.

I have Closing Time, Rain Dogs and Small Change. I would have Heart of Saturday Night right now, except UPS is full of douchebags who deliver only between 9 and 5.

82. Unforgettable
I saw Arthur Rubinstein play a full piano recital at the tender age of 82. With three encores, including a Chopin waltz I had studied when I was around 11 or 12 and still love playing.

I was in high school when I saw him perform. Incredible! He was such a bon vivant. I found video of him playing stuff at age 85 on YouTube. I feel very fortunate to have seen him play before he left us.

His son John Rubinstein is pretty cool, I hear.

17. Lots of deep cello
The movie is trippy and very heavy in buddhist elements. I personally enjoyed such an existential movie, but it's quite sad. Visually interesting just to look at. But then again, I was indeed high at the time.

18. Hehe
well, considering his last movie, I think being high was quite appropriate. I read somewhere that none of the effects in the movie are CGI and were all done using macroscopic photography of various biological reactions--sounded really cool.

I figure I'll have it completely out of my system after another dozen plays, or so. Actually, the music is inspiring me to consider starting film animation after a twenty year hiatus (do people still do film animation, or is it all entirely computer generated these days?). The music screams to be made into a Betty Boop genre cartoon.
