1. A few years ago my husband and I bought bicycles
We thought it would be good exercise. I hadn't been on a bike since I was 13 when I was in an accident with my bike and broke my collar bone and the bike was badly damaged.
So it was really tough getting back on a bike at the age of 36. Yep! Couldn't keep my balance... I thought I was gonna die!
It's funny how we can do something so easily as kids but it's gets harder to do as an adult. I kept with it though and could bike around fairly well. Haven't been on the bicycle for a little while now. Traffic is so bad that I'm a bit afraid and I don't have any areas closeby that are bike friendly.
I never learned to ride a bike. I had no desire to ride as a kid (I did ride a tricycle for a while when I was very young), and the one time I tried as an adult, I couldn't balance at all. Glad to hear it's not just me.
Most of us cyclists are eager for converts and will be glad to help. Some of us will even loan you a bike. A bonus is if you have a friend with one of those indoor trainers. You can get used to the posture and body motions of cycling without any risk of falling down.
