Need advice....re:canceled cell phone co.

I canceled service with a cell phone company in October 2002. I was not aware that I had a balance and now they are trying to bill me for a balance and have turned it over to a collection agency. I offered to pay the collection agency a minimal amount ($20.00) and the caller hung up on me when I said I didn't have $60.00 that she wanted.

She had my social security number and said they will take it to that step. What did she mean? She was hateful that's for sure.

I just wonder what these people's home lives are like if they are hateful all day. I can't imagine it's easy to turn that kind of attitude on and off at will.

1. This sounds fishy...

I remember someone else here a while ago with a similar story and it was a scam.. I'll try and find the link.. but be careful with this.

on edit: I couldn't find the other link. I'd call the original cell phone company and talk to their customer service. Good luck

I wouldn't pay a dime unless you get something in writing and then you can look into it.
