What has been the worst BCS screw job?
The BCS has actually improved things in one respect: efficiency. Now they screw teams in early December rather than waiting for the final polls do it in January.

The other problem with the BCS (that I've never heard anyone talk about) is that it renders all the other BCS bowl games meaningless. I remember many years when two or sometimes three of the NYD bowls could possibly impact the NC. Now it's just the NC game. Which isn't even played on NYD.

Anyway, which year was the worst screwing? We've had the BCS for nine years now, I believe. I count six screwings out of nine seasons.

I'm a Pac-10 guy so I have to think that the 2003 screwing of the Trojans is the worst. The Trojans were ranked #1 in both the AP and Coaches polls, but LSU and Oklahoma got to play for the championship.

As far as this year goes, I think Michigan got screwed by voters manipulating the results in order to avoid the rematch for whatever reason.

I really, really hate the BCS.

1. The screw up I remember the most
was the one you mention...OU lost to Kansas State, at the Big 12 Championship, and still got to go play LSU..all the announcers thought OU's loss was a fluke, but then OU lost to LSU.....and then USC got to play OU the next year, and USC just plain embarrassed the Sooners, it was a great game. All year long, people/pundits were saying how weak the Pac-10 was, and how good the Sooners were...and USC lays a total beating on them....:D

2. Auburn 2004
Undefeated. Rated the best strength of schedule that year. Won the conference championship game. Left out. That was a bad screwing.

12. Amen
It was awful to watch Oklahoma get destroyed by Southern Cal that year - Auburn might not have won the game, but they sure as hell wouldn't have given up 55 points. That was the most incredible season I've ever witnessed here, and I've followed Auburn football for three decades. Buzzkill doesn't even begin to describe how that went down.

4. Well look at Boise State.
They are the only other unbeaten team. Are they playing for the National Championship? Everyone says strength of schedule, but I say, on any given Saturday, A team can lose and lose big. It has been proven time and again. I think the two unbeatens should play each other.

7. The BCS is designed to keep the mid-majors down
Let's scrap the BCS and implement a 16 team playoff. Invite all the conference champions, not just the six BCS conferences. Hand out at-large bids to fill out the field.

Div I-AA has a sixteen team playoff that follows an 11 game season. Time for i-A to grow up as well. I am sick and tired of controversy year after year. Sports is supposed to be a meritocracy not a popularity contest.

13. Boise State's screwing doesn't compare with Auburn's.
But, that being said, I think you could make a stronger case for Boise State (as an undefeated) than Florida. I just don't think Florida should be there.

9. Because of the BCS "Notre Dame Clause"
Keeps getting them into bowls way over their heads. Eight straight losses by an average of 16.5 points. The important thing is they don't have to share that bowl money with a conference.

14. Wisconsin this season
They deserve to be in the BCS. That two-team rule screwed them over.
