Still smarting from my two forays into the discussion area of this site.
Jeeze. What happens in GD and GD-P should stay there. I wish I understood the drive to slit one's throat -- or someone else's...

Still reeling from the death of my ex-husband. Thought I'd come out of it with some thoughtful discussion.

WRONG!

This is just a rant.

Forget I mentioned it.

9. Well, AZDemDist6, the subjects were political -- I should have known better.
Thanks for the hugs...

FYI, my son is stranded in Chicago tonight. Flight from SLC was three hours late due to weather. He missed his connection to Vermont. Now the funeral is scheduled for tomorrow, Monday at 1 PM, but my son expects to make it there by 10:30 PM. Daughter flew back on Saturday night so she's there, returning by air on Wednesday.

Jewish people "sit shiva" for remembrance for a week after the death. Neither kid will be there; they have responsibilities in their homes. They also don't have the greatest relationship with their stepmother; it remains to be seen if they will have anything to do with her from now on. Their decision, not mine.

I'm just rattled by all the travel and extra kid care on this end, etc.

I should just get into a warm bath and relax.

Damn, that sounds good.

And those fuzzy pink handcuff!

Grrrrrrrr! They're exactly the same color as the Pepto-Bismol I'm drinking.

So much for the hot dogs we served for dinner.

Today's threads were political -- I joined the discussion and got pretty roasted.

7. Jeez.
I read the thread and I think you have a point. At the very least you have the right to make your opinion heard without being attacked like a rabbit by a pack of vicious coyotes. I did what I could to give you a little support but these people are so determined to hate your thinking that I doubt I was very helpful.

Sorry that happened to you, especially now.

15. It Is, You Are Right I Think
Yahoo message boards are awful, but I remember 4 years or more ago that they were less like that and I think it is a function of more and more people belonging to a board that things get out of control.

I think that Skinner and the rest do a good job with traffic control and moderating, it is the volume that is hard to deal with and the mentality changes with that too. Kind of like overcrowding?

NNadir, CatWoman, NNN0LHI, many-many more; but they'll sort of get all myopic and god help the fool if he/she has an alternate opinion to that myopic mind-set :scared:

22. Yeah, It's All Good
I learn a lot, but it can be a challenge to deal with some of the folks, mainly because many of them are more involved in reading the internets, I used to spend a lot of time doing that. I just don't have the time or energy today to stay up on every nuance of every issue.

It's always good to see you too bridgit

child) and my husband's father's date of death which was December 1, 1970.

Thanks for your concern, Tinfoil Tiaras.

27. After participating in so many discussions on a variety of sites since
1995 (when chat rooms were just getting started), it seems that even the most civilized exchanges on the most mundane topics -- can get people ranting and raving.

It's not like writing a letter and sleeping on it before you send it.

It's really a typed frontal assault and very disconcerting while it is happening in real time.

Even worse when you go back and see what "hot button" was pressed.

It may be exciting to exchange viewpoints with interesting people on topical subjects. But when you accidentally or on purpose "rub somebody the wrong way" -- it's hard to erase or even explain it away.

Gets into a lot of schoolyard namecalling, etc. etc.
