4. My mom is doing well.
Each day that goes by she is getting better. The nurses say that she is doing better than expected. She is bored in the hospital. She is getting her rest as much as possible. This past week she was on so much medication. During one of her moments she told me " you don't have to wait to have a baby ..." I was like WTF ! I think she wants a grandchild but I can't give that yet for a couple of reasons. 1) I am not ready 2) Again I am not ready - my cousin has a baby so he will be the baby of the family for now 3) I think I am the last person who should raise a child 4) I am scared that I might raise a child like me that ended up depressed. And she remembers that she told me that - I am trying to forget it, I can't even get a boyfriend LOL.

I don't know when she is coming home. But it has been weird not having her here. There is a void. Before this accident (her aneurysm) happened I was thinking about moving out - last week I stopped thinking about it .And this past weekend I started thinking that it might be a good idea for me to go because I don't want to cause stress or be a burden.

I feel a bit overwhelmed when I go to the hospital - I don't know what to do when I get there. I just sit there. I don't know what to do. She wants me to come there and visit but when I get there its all negative talk sometimes so I just read a book in the corner. I don't know what to do. I know she does'nt mean it but this is has she always been . Oh well.

11. One thing to remember about something like what your mom has gone through
It is a life changing event for her. She was confronted with her mortality and she survived. There is no question that she is going to be mindful of that and perhaps a little 'off' by the standards of people who haven't faced this.

Give it time. And give yourself time to heal from the scare. It's important for your own growth and happiness.

3. Wow, It's Cold Outside Here, I'm Looking Forward To Work
and my mind is mush.

So, what kind of work do you do?

I work in a geriatric psych unit as a clinical social worker and supervisor.

Today has been a loooong day.

We need some excitement in the lounge

6. I work for this man who makes overpriced clothes.
I see his merchandise everyday and I wonder how the hell is he a billionaire. I get paid lots of money to make sure what is supposed to be there is there for 8 hours a night while you are asleep. Oh so much fun.

10. The plus side is that I can work alone and do my own thing.
The only thing is that this week I can't really get my talk time in with my other friends in my department because we have some big wigs from the office in NYC coming in for a SURPRISE visit. And pray that they don't ask me anything because I get nauseous around bigwigs with clipboards who right down everything. LOL I remember when one of them came to audit my old department when I still worked there , they told the managers that I was hard to keep up with because I worked so fast and they could'nt find me as I worked LOL ;)

12. That Is Pretty Funny
they couldn't keep up with you

and they couldn't find you as you worked

best way to be around auditors probably.

I dread auditors and inspectors, and accreditation people.

Iraq is different from Vietnam, there's no Marlon Brando up the river with the natives and no Martin Sheen going up the river to behead him

re: having no life!
I read in your earlier post that you were a social worker in a geriatric psych ward? That has GOT to be challenging and trying!
Yep, I'm glad I found this site. I bet it was WILD prior to Nov. 6th and a HUUUGE party Nov. 7th!

21. Hey CP! I read your post above, saying your mom is doing better.
I am so glad to hear that. :bounce:

As to your boredom, that sucks. I hate being bored too. But I'm glad you came here; lots of entertaining folks around the Lounge, so hopefully they can erase the boredom!

25. Yeah she is doing really good.
Right now she is just getting some rest. Her headaches are the only thing bothering her now but the doctor's say that thats normal. She is doing better than they expected. I think it was a sign from God (everything that happened) to finally make her stop smoking and to make her rest her body.

26. Sometimes we need a really strong sign to get the message.
I hope she does quit smoking and gets some rest once she gets back to a more regular routine.
