I've been working on my house and listening to an audio book entitled "Those Who Walk in Darkness" by John Ridley. It's about an America where those with super powers have been criminalized, and a cop who's dedicated her life to killing those supers who don't flee to Europe.
This came dangerously close to happening in my Infinity: Earth series after Loki's metaviruses created enhanced humans such as metahumans and parahumans, as well as vampires, mages, and lycanthropes. Only the illegal (and secret) intercession of psychics kept a dangerous neocon President from taking power after an important election. Had he been voted into office, something like this may well have come to pass in my universe as well. Thankfully, the psychics managed to arrange for the election of America's first female President, as well as the first minority (Hispanic) President.
Since my own novels deal with folks with metahuman abilities, the novel has given me an idea for another Infinity: Prime novel in which my universe-jumping agents end up on a similar Earth trying to intercede in order to save the lives of the mutants so targeted.
I just created a super-villain named "Lowbrow." His power pretty much amounts to super-hypnotism. Anyone within the range of his voice, unless they themselves have superior mental abilities, are his to command. Thankfully they don't work if they're amplified by radio or television. People actually have to hear his voice in person.
I was toying with the idea of casting Rush Limbaugh as a villain, and trying to come up with a good villain name for him based on his own when "Lowbrow" popped into my head. His name, and his power, seem to fit Rush to a tee.
I'm just starting this project...I'm in the middle of the second book of my Infinity: Empire series (actually, about a quarter done) but this idea hit me so hard I HAD to run with it. Rush Limbaugh as a super-villain. I LOVE it.
I've also got another villain called "Savage" who will be modeled after another notorious RW talker. I have to figure out what his powers are.
So what about some others. I think we can all have fun with this one. Who else should I satirize in this novel? (I think it's going to be a novel, though it may end up evolving into a short story. I don't have any shorts written for Infinity: Prime yet, so I'll have to see how it goes).
Anyone else want to have fun with this? Name some other RW assholes and we'll brainstorm some super-villain names and powers for them.
 How can you resist THIS one?
