1. If someone is going to spend that much money on a sandwich,

I'd say they have too much money. Rather than spend the money on such silly things, how about using it to help others? (And of course I would think something like that, since I am not in the class of people who can afford a $168 sandwich!)

2. On the other hand

That $168 is going into the pockets of others not so rich (us). I look at it as the stupid rich spending habits that wind up benefiting the rest of us. So, the last laugh is ours. The sandwich ends up you-know where (little value to the rich guy), we still have the $168 in our pockets (greater value to us).
