Serious question: what is a flamewar?
Sometimes it's obvious, but sometimes these threads look to me like a rousing discussion. Does it become a flamewar when the name-calling begins? Enquiring minds want to know but not piss anybody off.

4. Back in the good old days of Usenet
a flame war really was a flame war. The more expletives the better.

5. Were you here
for the 2004 primaries? Some of the threads went way beyond rousing discussions. MOre like cat fights.

I suspect it will be pretty much the same in 2008.

9. No, I'm one of those losers (see: GD) who arrived after
2004, looking for solace. I'll no doubt see 2008 though.
