Poll question: Who would you like to see win the Super Bowl?
My opinion here is pretty obvious, but I want to gauge the loyalties of those who do (or don't) have a horse left in this race.

So, who's the team you want to win it all? Why?

You don't see me making snide references to your favorite team even though as a life-long rabid Cowboys fan I HATE the Eagles.

I'm really tired of the anti-Cowboy sentiment displayed on this board. No other team inspires so much nastiness and I can only assume at this point it stems from jealousy over the fact that they have such a rich history of winning (despite the recent lean years).

It is jealousy, pure and simple. Plus, there is such a hatred of everything Texas and Dallas on this board.

Thanks for saying this. It needs to be said over and over again.

All the other franchises were referred to by their true names instead of Dallas. So I propose for Phiily a simple term - "Can never win the big one."

7. My favorite team is
whoever is playing the Cowgirls that day. I loved it when they were going 1 & 14 year in year out.

My hatred of Dallas has nothing to do with the players and everything to do with the owner. Jerry Jones sold a bunch of gas leases to Arkla and his friend Shitfield Nelson for 10 times what they were worth and my gas rates were jacked up proportionately. Jones promptly took my money and bought the Girls.

Incidentally, you might remember that duo Jones / Nelson, they were the ones who actually swindled Madison Guaranty S&L out of $4M. But, their crimes were swept under the rug by Ken Starr.

We beat Carolina once already, and they are more overrated than us, even. IF we beat them, we'd play Philly, who we split the season with, and who won't have their MVP.

Eh, won't happen. It's been a good season, though.

I usually don't give a rat's plump rump about football, but every time a Philly team gets blown out, the entire area goes into a month-long state of clinical depression. Which happens four times a year, on the average.

I've given up on the long game, for the most expensive commercials ever developed in history... they are much more interesting... the cutting edge of marketing.

55. *enters time machine, sets date for 1/12/69* The 1968 N.Y. Jets, again!
This was one of the most important games in American pro football history.

By the Joe Namath-led Jets' one-sided victory over the heavily favored Baltimore Colts, the American Football League achieved parity with the older, established NFL.

After the leagues merged in 1970, never again did the Super Bowl achieve the same level of intrigue as when representatives of two different leagues (with distinctively differing styles of play) squared off.
