I tried cocaine for the first time tonight....need some input
I was at the bar down the street, and a friend of mine ( who is also one of the bartenders ) offered it to me. I took it...and I felt like I was hopped up for the entire evening ( I'm still feeling it right now ) I ended up hitting on the female bartender tonight, and I hope I didn't make an ass of myself, but there was an extreme sense of well-being, although I know I don't intend on making this a habit. Anyone else here have any experience with this stuff, and if so...do you do it regularly, or just for special occasions? I'm at a bit of a crossroads here...

1. From everything I've seen, heard of or read about ...
I would tread very carefully. Hopefully you won't go down that road as I've never heard anything positive that has ever come of it for anyone. Don't think your odds would be any better.
Good luck.

2. Cocaine Blues...
Dave van Ronk (traditional)

“Every time my baby an' me we go uptown
Police come an' they knock me down --
Cocaine, runnin’ all ‘round my brain.

Hey, baby, won't you come here quick;
This old cocaine is 'bout to make me sick --
Cocaine, runnin’ all ‘round my brain.

Yonder come my baby, she's dressed in red,
She's got a shotgun, says she's gonna kill me dead --
Cocaine, runnin’ all ‘round my brain.

(talking blues aside) Yeah, it makes you feel like superman
If you don’t believe me, try jumping out a third story window…

Hey, baby, will you come here quick;
This old cocaine 'bout to make me sick --
Cocaine, runnin’ all ‘round my brain.

You take Sally, an' I take Sue,
Ain't no difference between the two --
Cocaine, runnin’ all ‘round my brain.

Hey, baby, ya better come here quick;
This ol' cocaine 'bout to make me sick --
Cocaine, runnin’ all ‘round my brain.

I’m walkin’ down Lead Street and I turn towards Coal
Needin’ all that cocaine that I just sold
Cocaine, runnin’ all ‘round my brain.

Hey, baby, ya better come here quick;
This old cocaine 'bout to make me sick --
Cocaine, runnin’ all ‘round my brain.

Cocaine's for horses, an' it's not for men,
Doctors say it kill you, but they don't say when --
Cocaine, runnin’ all ‘round my brain.

Hey, baby, ya better come here quick;
This old cocaine 'bout to make me sick --
Cocaine, runnin’ all ‘round my brain.

Hey, baby, you better come here quick;
This old cocaine 'bout to make me sick --
Cocaine, runnin’ all ‘round my brain."

but at the time I WAS extremely drunk and willing to try anything at that point. It was offered to me, and I was a weakling and accepted it. Never again....thank you

3. Don't get "regular" with it.
Expensive, and can be plenty of interpersonal trouble besides.

My advice is: keep your distance, enjoy as a treat, not a part of your diet.

7. Why aren't you at your post?

Sorry, I had to.

Anyway, I tried blow once. I noticed I quickly became a ball of nervous energy, hopped up the same way you seem to have felt.

If you've read The Catcher In The Rye, there's a quote from Holden that goes

"I mean if I ever sat behind myself in a movie or something, I'd probably lean over and tell myself to please shut up."

That is exactly how I felt on cocaine, and why I will never do it again. I enjoyed smoking weed much more.

10. I was at a disadvantage, I suppose...due to the eight or so beers I
consumed....but the conversation came up, and I accepted. If I were sober, this NEVER would have happened, which is why I am very disappointed in myself right now for doing those two lines

19. Think of it as a learning experience.
You've tried it, and from your posts, I gather you didn't like it. This happens to a lot of people after drug experimentation.

I, too, had a few beers, and a couple hits from the bong before snorting. Initially I didn't feel good about my decision making skills, but then I came to realize that I was originally curious what it felt like, and I tried it, didn't like the result, and had no interest in using it again.

It'll wear off soon.

76. so, you might also want to rethink having 8+ beers at one
sitting. Sounds like it (seriously) impairs your judgment - you say you never would have done cocaine without downing so much alcohol before. I have no problem with people using alcohol to loosen up a bit, but when it gets to the point where you're doing dangerous things you'd never dream of doing sober, then you've probably had too much to drink.

Be careful, whatever you do. Aside from the health issues and risks, the drug laws in this country are so incredibly, ridiculously severe that you really don't want to go anywhere near cocaine.

spread out over a good period of time.
I acknowledge the fact that what I did was stupid, and I have no intention of trying the shit again. I was just curious as to how many others have done it. Peace

8. My drug mantra:
The better it feels, the farther away from it I oughta be. Or, as a friend in college described his sole experience with heroin: "Too good."

I've been through it with alcohol, so I know I'm an addict waiting for a drug.

Moderation, grasshopper.

My next door neighbor died of a cocaine overdose when he was 25 years old - he was a successful trader working for a major stock exchange in Chicago. Handsome kid, smart - started trying drugs on a bet and got hooked. He was just a few years younger than me. He'd been in and out of rehab twice trying to kick it. He died alone in a motel room in Florida (I live in Illinois) after leaving the third clinic he'd been sent to. His parents were frantic trying to find him for a few weeks after he took off. When his parents were notified by the FL sheriff my mother told me she could hear the woman's screams (our neighbor) from inside her house.

was flying high and in a great mood ( for maybe 45 minutes or so ) then, he would just go back to his beer. Now, I STILL feel like I'm hyped up. I want to go to sleep, but there is no way that I can, not now. I am thinking of making a pot of coffee to perk me up, or break me out of this. This feeling, I can't describe it

Succesful, not addicted, and extremely well off. She uses it, at most, once every couple of years.

You don't have to "try" everything. You never know how you'll react to a drug. Just because one of your friends enjoys it, that doesn't mean you will. You are a different person with a different body chemistry. Also, not everybody becomes addicted to a drug, but doesn't the fact that you might become addicted to something tell you not to try it? Sorry about the sermon, but I just can't believe you did that to yourself.:spank:

44. Listen to those that have traveled this path before you...

a smart man learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from the mistakes of others.

Drivin' that train
High on cocaine
Casey Jones you better
watch your speed
Trouble ahead
Trouble behind
and you know that notion
just crossed my mind

Trouble ahead
The Lady in Red
Take my advice
you be better off dead
Switchman sleepin
Train hundred and two
is on the wrong track and
headed for you

Drivin' that train
High on cocaine
Casey Jones you better
watch your speed
Trouble ahead
Trouble behind
and you know that notion
just crossed my mind

Trouble with you is
The trouble with me
Got two good eyes
but we still don't see
Come round the bend
You know it's the end
The fireman screams and
The engine just gleams

Drivin' that train
High on cocaine
Casey Jones you better
watch your speed
Trouble ahead
Trouble behind
and you know that notion
just crossed my mind

but I hope when you read this later that you take into consideration that coke is addictive, your brain loves it and if you do it enough you will risk losing everything.

He lost:
His business
His wife
His children
His Home

I'm a little bit ADD, and oddly enough, instead of making me an idiot chatterbox (as it does with most people), it actually focused me and quieted me down! (probably the speed it was often cut with). I loved the stuff but (fortunately) was making only $11,000/year at the time, so no danger of having enough money to buy coke in sufficient quantity to get in trouble.

One time, after doing some nasty stuff at a party, I spent 24 hours in a darkened apartment with a cold towel on my head -- couldn't move all day. Soon after that, a young college basketball player named Len Bias was celebrating getting an NBA contract, and he died of a heart attack after doing some celebratory lines.

That and the headache reaction were enough to convince me the buzz wasn't worth it. The Len Bias thing got to most of my friends as well - everyone sort of stopped using it at the same time.

Putting something into your body when you have NO IDEA what's in it --- that's pretty scary, never mind the potential effect on your heart, or the addictive potential.

49. I remember Len Bias
Mid 80s... 2 days after being drafted by the Celtics. I remember thinking that it was not only a loss of life (which of course was tragic enough), but that the Celtics would be w/o their draft pic for YEARS to come.

58. Thank you, Ma'am. My Son Casey was one of my Treasures...
...along with my other Children. He was a wonderful, respectful, loving young man, when not fighting his addiction. His Mother and I would have fought grizzlys or great white sharks for him, but we could not fight his addiction for him.

66. So sorry that happened to your beloved son.
It must be really painful to discuss. But thanks for sharing the warning here: It's killed people and ruined lives. Why take the chance?

Perhaps Casey's senseless death will convince someone else to stay away from that killer!

77. Hi BikeWriter - I think I remember the post where you'd just
learned you'd lost him - I wasn't around much then and never saw a follow up (if there was one) but I've always thought of you and your family and hoped you were somehow doing OK. I never knew what happened until this thread, and I'm so sorry.

Heck, you just do NOT know what it has been cut with...you could be putting poison in your body, even more than just the drug.

63. Just don't ever do it again
It's a bad drug. People think they can't get addicted to it, and then the next thing you know, they are addicts stealing from their families and strangers to buy it.

71. First of all, that's not coke.
My guess is you did meth or lines of speed.

Second, if you are this naive about drugs, you have no business doing cocaine. Please leave it for the real addicts. I almost died from it and it only took 10 months. Stick to beer (although I have to say that having 8 beers might have something to do with your incredibly stupid decision to try random drugs).

Basically, don't be an idiot. Thank you.

74. This makes me incredibly sad....
I know some might use recreationally. But the truth is some become addicted. Big gamble with everything you hold dear because there is no way to know if it will addict you until it already has. By then, it's too late. The drug is then most important thing in your life.

I grew up with addicts. I have seen middle class women drop to their knees and perform oral sex in a crack house when the money ran out during a weekend binge. I have seen children addicted by their parents. I have seen women attempting to sell themselves (strawberry) while their children stood on the side of the road with them. I have seen men drive up in their SUVs to sell their wives jewelry in exchange. Drug addictions do not discriminate.

The high might have been attractive, but is it attractive enough to potentially go down the same road others have clearly gone down before you. The odds simply may not be in your favor. Is that a risk you would be willing to take?

80. Damn, everyones down on the coke
I do it on occasion and think its great. I've never lost my job, never went broke, never stole anything. Just had some fun. Obviously if you have an addictive personality you probably want to stay away, but in moderation I had a fucking blast.

82. And how, exactly, do you know whether you will become addicted
or not before you try it? Does it seem to you that some of the stories on this thread are worth the (somewhat questionable) "fun" you have with it? And would you wish poverty, loss of job, family, friends, and ultimately death on another person?

Suppose you had two pills. One would give the person a bit of fun. The other would kill them. But you didn't know which was which. Would you encourage someone to randomly pick and take one?

Your post is irresponsible.

89. Played my best game ever of foosball on coke. Like I could see the future.
We were four of us playing, two to a team, and it was fucking AMAZING. Like we were all linked in mind somehow, and were watching the ball from a point in the future about 0.5 seconds ahead of real time - amazing blocks, amazing scores. And we were playing way faster than normal as well. It was insane.

But I never did that dangerous, shitty, expensive, awful shit again, though.

Stay the hell away from coke.
