Either my Dad is finding his humanity, or he's hid it damned well for 35 years.
Long story short:

Grandma, with Alzheimer's, goes to Quaker Gardens 02/04.

Sister # 2 cleans up her house and moves in with her two kids.

Sister can barely make the below-market rent my dad, as Grandma's trustee, has set.

Grandma dies 10/27/06. RIP.

Lawyer says "trust must be liquidated ASAP." (I don't understand why; does anyone understand trusts?)

Sister # 1 calls me to break the news. We've all been waiting for this shoe to fall, and Sister # 2 has been terrified of it. No way on her salary could she afford rent on a 3-bedroom apt. The three of us have always plotted for this day, to come up with SOME way that Sister # 2 could stay in this house.

Today, much to our surprise, Dad revealed to me & Sister # 1 that he wants Sister # 2 to stay in the house. In fact if it were only up to him, he'd give her the house. But he has a brother.

If you're interested, stay tuned. Dad has to hear back from the lawyer re: deadline for trust liquidation, and has many conversations to have with his brother.

A good thought for us, please! We want desperately to make this work.

And about my dad: :wtf: :wow:

1. I know nothing about your Dad, but from knowing mine
it would be because he didn't want the risk of sis and kids moving in whith him. "Generosity" can have other motives too.

3. Your dad sounds like a winner.
There's nothing else that could be motivating mine, though. Other scenarios just don't apply.

2. My dear bertha!
Good thoughts headed your way!

I don't care what's motivating your dad...I'm just glad he's thinking along the same lines you are!

Good luck, and yes, keep us informed! :bounce: :bounce:
