Job opportunity question - whether to apply at all
Edited on Fri Nov-24-06 06:20 PM by kedrys
The s.o. was canned from a lucrative contract job last month over some questionable "conflict of interest" crap - they basically came up with an excuse to cut the s.o. loose.

Now a recruiter called and wants to put the s.o. up for a job that's perfect on paper...except we're pretty sure it's with the same group the s.o. was with.

I think the BS coefficient would be way too high. The s.o. thinks it might make them realize how badly they handled the whole situation.

Any thoughts?

2. Interesting situation.
How well do you know the recruiter?

If you trust him/her, maybe level with them and see what they think. Even if it does not pan out, your so might make a good impression on the recruiter.

Really, I have no idea.

3. I'm friends with another recruiter who works with the company in question
and would probably give me the low-down. The problem is that she would expect (understandably) to place the s.o. herself, and probably would have done so already if she had seen the s.o.'s resume.

I don't want to burn the first recruiter, and to me the whole thing is a bad-ish idea, but I wanted unbiased opinions. Hence the post.

The first recruiter seems to think the position fits the s.o. like a glove; I think the company wrote it after canning the s.o. and realizing all the s.o. had been doing and was capable of. It's nominally a tech writing and editing job, but with web development skills as well, which none of the other writers on that team has to any noticeable degree.
