I'm hungry
not to the point of going to a shelter or church for sustenance, but I am hungry and cheap. I would rather use four blankets than a heater, and I know I will fry an egg in the morning.

I feel for all those out there who are truly living lives that depend on the timing and goodness of others for food or shelter.

I am lucky. For now. I don't pray, but I will do what I can to help. That is a vow.

Please do what you can?

1. Dude (or dudette)...
are you alright? I ask this because your last few posts have seemed, um, rather odd...

3. How is this odd?
I'm a little off center, but far from not being alright.

Thanks for asking though!

:)

2. As a person who...
...has just faced the very real possibility of being homeless, I do what I can for others, when I can.

I am lucky that on the 11th hour of almost being homeless a place came through for me, but that is something I never want to go through again.

I have never been so scared in all my life.

And for the record, I have actually helped many street kids in the past find secure homes. I just never thought that one day, I would be facing the same situation.

4. That's the point
we never believe it will happen to us. I lived in my car for awhile, and now have a stable, good job. I don't expect it to last though, and know that in a heartbeat, I could be out there again. I remember every emotion and thought involved with that time.

5. Man...

I remember being poor when I was a kid. My parents were on welfare for years. Our birthday and Christmas presents came from charities and Toys for Tots. Our meals always came from the food shelf, which we visited at least once every week. With all those problems, my parents fought all the time. My mom and dad almost got divorced on numerous occasions. That was a hard, and probably the worst, time for us all.

Now we're doing great. My parents own their own home. They can afford to buy what they want (nothing millionares can buy by any means.) I go to one of the best liberal arts colleges in the country. I guess things do get better. I never did believe that before.

I hope everything works out well for you, GURUving, and I hope that you get to keep your job during these tough times and crappy economy.

6. Thanks for the good thoughts
I will keep the job and I'm doing fantastically well right now. I just remember, years ago, like yesterday or last night, how it was different and could change in a moments time.

I'm a lucky ducky now.

8. I think...
...those thoughts and emotions will stay with us through out our lives.

I put Sapphocrat through hell when I was facing being homeless. Firstly, you need to remember that Sappho and I are living in separate countries, so her being so far away and helpless to do anything to save me from being out on the street is enough to drive a person crazy. But I also know, I said things that didn't make sense, and I was taking my anger out on her and stuff. I really didn't mean to, and I do realize it was my fear talking. I just thank God every day, that Sappho has enough strength to keep on loving me, and just not tell me to piss off.

I hope you keep your job, my freind. Being homeless is something no person in this world should ever have to face, but unfortunately we do. I wish you luck with your furture.

But I changed my mind and decided that I shouldn't be embarassed about being hungry. I have been hungry all week. I made 50k a year ago, and now I don't know where my next meal is coming from or if I can actually keep a roof over my head. I pawned my beloved stereo tonight. It looks like I may lose my car and my home in the next few weeks, and although I know it isn't my fault, I tend to be hard on myself. I am nearing 50 and suddenly it seems my experience and expertise are not needed in this country. I am with you my friend.

14. Oh man
Oh man oh man oh man.

Oxy I am lucky. I have been poor, for years I was, but now I am not.

You weren't poor, though now you face it. I would say I'm sorry, but I doubt you want to hear that. I sure never did.

My thoughts are with you. If there is any help you need that an anonymous guy on the internet can provide, you have it. Tis weak magic, but it's all we have.
