That sister and her family were to have gone to other sister's family for TG dinner.

Both sisters just figured out why the man wants to have store-prepared TG dinner at home.

So he won't be separated from his 60-in. TV on a big football day. :eyes:

While stammering on the phone w/ each other, one sister finally said to the other, "I think we're secure enough now in our relationship that we don't have to spend every Thanksgiving together."

1. As disturbing as I find that, it doesn't bother me as much
as the fact that one of my sisters goes to an in-law's and has a meal that is catered every year. No, it's not envy! It just bothers me.

2. I think you win
That IS disturbing. My guilt goes into overdrive at TG because I have rarely gone hungry or lacked any physical need. . . . catered TG dinner just sounds so . . . so . . . classist. (I don't know if that's the word I want.)

3. She married into wealth, and the husband is absolutely wonderful.
But I still don't understand how she so willingly gives up her - responsibility - as a member of my immediate family, to recreate the wonderful experience we had growing up. Me and my ethnocentric ways.

4. I'm a football fan AND one that respects tradition
Your BIL, IMHO is one self-centered a-hole.
My family has a couple, too.
