Word from the wise: Do not rub your eyes after you chop a jalapeno.
Yeah, I was the foolish lady running to the bathroom this evening. I thought I had rinsed my hands after doing this! I suppose it wasn't enough
Mr. Writer dumped water on my face over the sink and I tried my best to blink. Not until I shot cold water from the shower nozzle did the stinging go away.
Mr. Writer just now: "Now that you've experienced that, imagine what a habanero is like!"
Next time, wear gloves. I kid you not. Either that or get someone else to do it for you. Every year I slice jalepenos for #1 son's tamales. My fingers burn for days. Literally. Rinsing, washing...they burn. And if I touch my mouth....
23. Also, don't try eating a raw habanero unless you're into real pain
There's a reason why tear gas is made from habanero peppers. Yours truly tried to eat a whole pepper once, but I was smart enough to keep a cheeseburger on hand to help soak up the oil. Still had to throw half the pepper away, though.
You will have to throw them out. No amount of cleaning or soaking will make them right. Not sure about rigid glass, I don't know if they are even made anymore.
