So Tom & Katie are married, but technically they aren't really married
http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3866260a1860,00.html

Local authorities said this week Cruise, star of Hollywood hits like "Top Gun" and the "Mission: Impossible" trilogy, had not sought permission for a civil service, meaning the wedding could be purely ceremonial and have no legal value.

So since Scientology isn't a recognized religon (Nicole Kidman could marry in the Catholic Church because they didn't recognize her marriage to Tom Cruise as valid) AND they married in a country where permissions are required in order to be an official wedding but were not completed.

Something stinks to high heavens if you ask me! Poor Katie is getting screwed out of her life, her career and probably the kid too!

1. I feel bad for her in a weird sort of way.
Tom Cruise is totally just fucking her over, IMHO.

2. And is there any POSSIBLE reason to care about this?
Not to be hostile, especially to you, but....

7. Yes
This news means I can continue my weekend trysts with Katie without fear of going to hell. At least for adultery. :D

4. My kid is more adorable than Suri
Thank goodness the paparazzi have not figured that out yet. And once they figure out she qualifies for Mensa membership at age 11 they may say "Suri who?"

8. She wasn't as horribly bad as I thought she would be....
in "Thank You for Smoking".

Now, "Batman Returns" does, indeed, show off her sheer awfulness as an actress.

16. OK, she had a career (Checked IMDB)
I've only seen her in Batman and, yes, she certainly was believable as an asst DA in a crime ridden city.:sarcasm:

9. Even w/o a civil union to go along with this, I think she's secure
Edited on Sun Nov-19-06 09:21 AM by electron_blue
They had a very public high profile 'wedding' of some sort. It's obvious what both of their intentions were. I know, that piece of paper is also important, but should this go south (or perhaps some would say 'when') and ends up in court, it'll be treated as a divorce.

13. In the realm of international relations, I can't see why Bush is even talking
about Korea when Katie's marital status is in doubt.

19. Well, I've always felt that if you have to use the icon, you're not being sarcastic enough.
I have no opinion about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, but given the internationally established level of Bush's competence, I don't think they want him involved in ironing issues in their relationship.

before they went to Italy. This one was just for show.
